batt will die after long period.

Juz had the batt recharge by the batt charger.

However, do take note that in some case, where the batt is completely die til even recharge will not revive the batt.

my battery on my x1r died, petrol in the carb become stale, bike cannot start, tow to bike shop wash carb, pump in fresh petrol and change/charge battery can liao.

Getting your licenses revoked is much more painful than dying.Don't drink and drive.:thumb:

i heard from some old birds that need to pump full tank if u go overseas for long time.

Cause the fuel tank will rust.

But seems like urs is the oppo case?

I just recharged mine battery. Then earlier just now, i was adjusting mine side mirror. I left mine headlight open because the MSCP was dim and I want to see better.. after about 30minutes when Im done adjusting mine mirrors perfectly the battery suddenly dies off again when I tries to start the bike. The starter just gave me the click sound.. -.-

So mine batt will be perm like this, as in it will dies very easy from now even after i recharge it? Its condition is brand new actually, about 2 months. just that recently i havent start the bike for awhile, got it recharge yesterday, now today after leaving headlights on for 30minutes, it dies off again. and is there anywhere i can buy the battery charger?

Just to chime in, I haven't quite started my bike for a month now as well. The battery is a little weak, but I still managed to push start my 4-stroke Engine bike (mine's an electric start, not kick start). Rode it around for awhile and soon it was back to normal. I sure hope it will hold charge, but if it drains out, then I guess it's time to replace the battery :)

A few things to know about our car/bike batteries.

1. These are lead-acid batteries.

2. At full charge, after disconnection and settling, you should get 13.2V

3. During charge, it'll show 14.4V, mostly due to your alternator output. Too high, you'll kill the battery, low, the battery gets charged too slowly and may not reach full charge if your trips are too short. Too low, you'll never reach full charge. 10.8V is considered a flat battery.

4. Lead-acid batteries don't take well to being left at not fully charged state. The chemicals react to form a non-reversible state, means your chemical store gets lesser and lesser which translates to lower and lower capacity. Its like being able to crank less and less time before it dies. So remember never to forget to switch off your lights.

5. A large capacity is not always good for you, however, it takes longer to be fully charged. If you don't charge it fully you'll suffer item 4.

6. If you are not going to use the bike for a long time, charge up the battery fully and disconnect the terminals.

7. The 14AH rating is not the voltage, its the battery capacity, imagine it as the size of a bucket, larger holds more water (charge). More charge equates to more cranks etc before it runs out. See item 5 if you think bigger is better.

8. Although your battery can crank non-stop for a long time, don't! The starter is not designed for continuous cranking, it'll overheat and burn.

9. If your battery keeps dying, check the voltage when the engine is running. If its not 14.4V or near it, your charger/alternator needs fixing, battery is probably gone by then. If voltage is ok, then battery is at the end of its life.

Hope this helps.

I think the best option is to go on a long ride at least once a week and with high rev's the battery will charge up. But the down side is if you do not then one of those pocket jump starter kits on hand to help.....bought one just in case of such a situation as I do not have a battery charger unit.

Starting the bike without riding it will kill the battery faster than if you left it alone. If you are going away for some time, ask a family member to check on the bike regularly (against thieves and vandals) but don't start it!

I often leave my bikes alone for months on end. No issues, as long as the battery is in good condition to start with, and the bike's electrical system is sound. A week or 2 is perfectly fine.

Of course, I drain the carbs and pump up the tires. If leave for really really long, squirt about 10cc of engine oil into the spark plug hole, and disconnect the battery (don't need a quantum physics doctorate to do that!)
