there was a Nightster parked next to my bike today. i sat on it for the first time (i didnt scratch it) and found the seat quite low but because it is a mid mounted foot peg, the riding position felt funny with my knees raised quite high. I am not that tall so wondering if riding a sportster is uncomfortable for anyone above a certain height... just wondering...

Yohji's right, the nightster is lower than the standard R sportster. I'm about 1.85m and the 883R is comfortable for me but not the low version.

I have the fork brace. Cant say I can tell any difference. Still have high speed wobbles (over 130 km) and around long sweeping turns.

I ride the FXDC and it has the 49mm forks, so I have read that fork brace doesnt do much for them. Makes a difference if have smaller diameter forks.

Looks good in any case!

You know what would look really cool? Install the fork brace and remove the front fender...the bike will look smokin :shades:

The fork brace is to bikes what the strut bar is to cars?

haha! true true! sorry very sorry to the owner of the nightster. i was extremely careful, but thats no justification :)

Luckily you were the one who sat on it. Not some young punks who don't even care about not scratching other pple's bike.

Don't worry conjurer, I let you sit on my bike next time. But you must let me sit on yours too

He can't take anymore orders cause he can't guarantee that there will be more Irons coming in for 2010. But you can add your name to the "waiting list". But since you bought your bike already then no point waiting anymore!!

Pics pics pics pics!!!!!!!!! BEFORE AND AFTER!!! :D

Would look good if have a lot of rake on the front forks and a skinnier tire. But with all the rain in SG, would not be very practical ;)

Theres one guy with something like a 300 on his rear tire and chopped fender, have to stay about a 100 meters away when its wet!

Having said that, I must say that the sportster has its own rudimentary appeal. It's what motorcycle was meant to be from the beginning in terms of form. I hope too keep my sportster, being my first harley and all, for posterity if i do eventually get a big twin in future...hopefully the cb;).

So if that's the way HD reel in customers, i guess they've got it right :thumb:

In the US, the HD had a great program. If bought a Sportster in past few years, you could trade it in for what you paid for it as long as moved up to a big twin. That really pushed in sales. But then what to do with all the Sportys...

I would have liked to keep my sporty as more practical to ride it in SG, but have little time as is to ride my super glide. :(

I dont know but i wont give up my sportster for a big twin...going to big twin wont have that old school look..it all goes down to preferences i guess but all hd are the same, all are great for a slow lazy late afternoon ride around town...:D

wanna ride with madness?

I cannot guarantee that I will keep my sportster forever. A big twin is always very tempting. For me it's more like a physical barrier. I'm not that big sized and my arms/legs are not that long  :(

I love the looks of Honda VTX1300/1800 and Suzuki Boulevard M109r but they are just too huge for me. Luckily the sportsters are "built for my size".

different folks different strokes...for me since the honda evo 6 is confirmed shelfed, i am looking in the goldwing direction again, i need a tourer in my fleet..the last trip i went on my fazer, darn, i am so busy with securing my luggage...:slapforehead:..i missed my st11 and goldwing..:(....in sg, i luv riding on my nightster more than my other rides...:D

Cool another sportster. It's interesting because my yellow xl 1200s, i know, it's yellow, but it does look quite good, comes with black exhaust. It's the only sportster in the 2000 model series that comes with black exhaust. The custom and XLH and even all the 883 that year comes with chrome pipes. At first I thought it was a modified exhaust until i saw the owner's manual. I wonder why.

I keep saying 'my xl 1200s' when it's not even mine yet...sianz man...

They should have this deal here as well. Will certainly compel more buyers to opt for brand new sportsters, unless of course they are the purist who wants the old carb feel. But HD may jack up the price of the big twin in order to get the same profit margin overall...

I wonder what will happen to all the sportsters that the previous owners trade up in this program. Sell as second hand?

Yeah. Must be able to get a pretty good deal on a used sporty. I wonder if you can buy one in the states and ship it to SG without too much trouble and $$.

Wah why not just buy MT-01??

Seriously, I don't like it when they try to transform a cruiser/chopper into a sports bike. It's like trying to look like a man when you are actually a woman. Want a sports bike, buy a sports bike.

Thanks for the pic!

Actually Harley wanted this bike to be sporty in the first place.. If someone buy a XR1200 just to cruise on long straights den it'll be a pity..

but Yohji, the XR12 is by no means a cruiser.

I think you mistook it for a sportster.

They didnt transform anything that wasnt suitable on this bike.

the style still remains
