Yes, price of $250 is for valve clearance and other labour need etc. Belts are always separate cost and $120 is about right.

Oil $65 inclusive oil cooler. (semi syn, if you want full syn then more exp$$$)

Gaskets cos you did valve clearance and belt change

Spark plugs $5-10 x 2

Brake fluid/ clutch fluid also not free although cheap, time = labour as well which went into your $250

Did you get new brake pads at the same time?

 

I guess your service sounds like a 2V full service, so maybe you are riding a Monster/Multistrada/Hypermotard/SS?

 

If you ride the superbikes/4V ducatis, the labour cost $450~, coolant charge again for flushing/top up, dry clutch plates replace, etc even more $$$.

I asked you what bike you are riding for a reason. 4 valve models and 2 valve models obviously have different difficulties in valve clearances. $250 is normal for a 4 valve model, I would say.

 

When you say that you kena chop, aren't you are accusing the shop of overcharging you?

I think $250 is cheap for 4V if full service. If $250 for valve clearance then ok. I paid $400/450 for labour i think.

Hmm I can't remember how much I paid for labour when I did valve clearances for my old monster. Haha maybe our labour costs higher cos ST fairings are a bloody PITA to remove.

Dood for 2 up riding you might wish to consider one of the ducati STs. ST2, ST4(s), ST3(s). Uncomfy for pillion on any monster on long fast rides up north.

Btw Throttle, do you happen to live around the aroozoo avenue estate? I've seen an S2r and previously, a sportster being ridden around the estate on sundays. Thought it was very coincidental that you happened to own both bikes.
