sian....

2 days ago just met wif an accident at clementi ave 2 slip road joining AYE towards city.

a lorry was in front of me suddenly jam brake.

i was looking out for traffic coming from my right then i saw him brake.

i siam to my right but its was too close i hit his back and left side faring smashed.

i then slowly put down my bike to its right.

i am very sure that there is not traffic coming from the slip road if not i will had been "died" by then as my bike and i landed on the slip road.

But on whole, its still my fault. Hiax.....

The lorry driver was very kind and helpful not to claim me and help to move my bike to the side.

Just then i then discover that my left hand is in pain and swell.

I apologised to him and he offered to send me to hospital but i rejected.

Damaged:-

Bike: left side faring, head faring and etc smashed which will cost me $1300++++....????

Myself: left hand factured. My shaft bone connecting my ring finger at the back of my palm broke.....

Lesson Learnt:-

stop to check for traffic and not move while checking.

luckily i am not speeding, if not head on to the back of the lorry and worst things could had happen......

Now must rest at least 6 weeks before i can ride again..........

i had this similar scenario years ago. its midnight, filtering from cte to serangoon road. no cars but the bugger sudden jam brake while i was checking on the move. so i jam brake as well, didn't hit the car but bike almost fall.

so lesson learnt for me, dun follow any vehicles when filtering in n out of any roads. either keep to the right or left of the vehicle. so even if the bugger jam brake, oso easier to veer off.

changing to the lowering kit does help. but the geometry of your bike will change. u have to drop your front fork to match your rear also. have u found the lowering kit?

IMHO, must have: tank bra, frame slider, headlight protector. The rest depends on how deep is your pocket.

I think if u go get from shops will not only be troublesome, and got to wait long, will also be more exp.

I wonder if David is able to machine them ?

i heard yamaha bikes r the hottest amoung the common brands like honda, suzuki, kawasaki. even R6 can cook balls!! :D

So ... the "rumor" is true... hamayah's bike is hottest :(

Nvm... will try enjoy other good things about FJR... since just bought it... cannot regret.

My bike is 6 yrs old. The heat issue is as bad as when I just got it. However, when the fan kicks in, it should go back to 3 bars. I flush my radiator every 20-30K. But efficiency of the fins will inevitably drop over the years due to dirt accumulation and fin deterioration. Highway riding is usually 2 bars unless its a hot afternoon.

Just get a tank bra and your balls are safe. But leg burns are harder to avoid unless you wear log pants. 06 model onwards can adjust their fairing to deflect the hot air right?

Yes - my highway riding (avg 140kph) is two bars in the temp gauge.

At the beginning the heat was unbearable too, but once you get used to it, its ok. Just make sure your legs don't touch the pipes when you put them down when stopping at traffic lights. Now am used to the heat so travelling locally with shorts and slippers is ok. Bearing with the heat is a small price to pay for the power and awesome ability of this bike.

Adjusting the fairing like omni said, to deflect the hot air, really helps too.

Manzz... try check any levers or etc in the fairing to see if you can deflect the heat ... maybe it has been already adjusted, that's y your bike feels less hot than mine.
