$260 for a battery TOO expensive lah, yup as wat omnilash said if u get it from Auto Machinery (Rowell Rd), its $180 and its 14 amp. Origina lFJR battery..

hi guys,just went to HKL to change my batt today,current FJR batt pricing went up a lot,i used to change one pricing ard $200,but now went up to $260++..So no choice but to get them to downgrade to lower 12amp(original 14 amp)total damage is $120(batt)$20(towing)just for reference in case anybody need to change batt..

 

I used to service my previous FJR @ HKL, and also change my battery there B4. U sure they really charge U $260 for a original FJR battery?

But bro ABS will be in good use if u are in NSH... when u jam yr brakes the ABS kicks in then u will say thank god there ABS..hahahah

u said jam brakes liao mah. hahahaha.... but then, ABS only kick in when the sensor detected wheel lock. so, most of the time, u wun even use the ABS. n touchwood, if the ABS didn't kick in, u will say "god!! where's the ABS!!"....

 

ABS is good when U need it, but I feels painful in the ankle when my rear brake ABS kicks in ( all those rapid kick back from the brake lever ).

 

I have yet to experience the front brake ABS in action.

i never heard of bike batteries cost $260...the most expensive i bought so far cost $120 yuasa..original from japan..

 

Just went down to Auto Machinery enquiring abt the FJR batt today.. Well, the price has gone up to $220!!

Nowadays everything also go up..

 

Also went to Chong Aik for the batt and they quoted me $145 but its for YUASA.

 

Anybody uses YUASA for their FJR? Any reviews people??

Today I went over to Hong Leong to get the mechanic to check on my bike due to rattling/ticking noise again.

Found that it is a recurring problem of the chain cam tensioner.

Was told that I might have done some sudden revving of the engine that cause it to give way. This tensioner is very delicate and any sudden revving can damaged it.

So a friendly reminder to fellow FJR riders, go gradual on the throttle when overtaking on the road, try not to rev it too suddently or else $$$ will fly away

 

Dear All, this is the main cause for my Engine failure 2 yrs back, the Tension wore out, and hit my valves causing a header overhaul.. Initially thought it was because of some mechanical problems but as i'm one of those whom used to ride Scrams aka dirtbikes do understand that we throttle much faster than the regular gradual ones that we are taught in driving schools as this is a prolonged habit, you usually snap the throttle as it's always been for the torque.

 

Since the incident i've already changed the tensioner once, and it is a rather a riding habit that caused the problem in the first place. Now am more cautious on the way i throttle... as Reborn mentioned...its best all practice good throttle control, the jerks may cause a bigger incident in time to come...

I had mine done at the saddle shop a few doors away from LAB, the auntie reinforced all the seams for less than $30 (To be confirmed)

 

But I dare say that Eugene probably could do it too, I like his customer service more

hi guys,seldom online nowadays..anyway,my bike is service by a guy named ah [email protected] nice guy,i think quite knowledgable in FJRs oso..he oso told me the batt is ard $220,but the transport over to the workshop plus labour will cost you abt $260..tat's why he recommend me to downgrade to lower amp,and pricing cheaper by half,can ride for 6 mths more then change to same model oso cheaper than the current original batt..

i always test my ABS before going on long trips. for safety sake.

car batt is wet type. its a lot more cheaper than motorbikes ones & made in Japan.

Well, aft asking HL, whom quoted me 5 to 6k i got the header with the valves at 700 over in E-Bay (but header had a problem had to skim it to get it right cos it was retrived from an accident bike in the US), after shipping in, i ask HKL to assembly which was also another 700 plus i think, i spent around 1500 for that time alone.. (the plus point of this process, torque is much much more fast in response than it used to be)

 

And true the sound does come back if tensioner is weak, but if properly done, you shouldn't hear it when idling, it usually sounds of a very loud clanking sound...like as though something is loose inside..
