Hi all, i've just called Hong Leong to make an appointment for the harness change, earliest date is end october. Bike has to be left overnite

Mine is on the beginnin of Oct... also vy interested to know wat sort of wire harness is it abt.... cos i had tap off quite a handful of supply/signal points from the wiring (cross fingers)

Just found out and wanna share with all what are the "Grounding Harness Recall" works involved, and for you guys to take note.

"Summary:

YAMAHA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006-2009 FJR1300 MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 2006, THROUGH MARCH 2009. THE GROUND JOINT CONNECTOR OF THE WIRE HARNESS COULD OVERHEAT AND BECOME DEFORMED, POSSIBLY CAUSING AN INTERMITTENT GROUND WIRE CONNECTION. IF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS NOT PROPERLY GROUNDED, THE IGNITION SYSTEM AND/OR OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS COULD MALFUNCTION, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL."

Could cause the engine to stall...

 

I had a problem when sometimes after leaving home, as I slow down at the first red light a few minutes later, the engine would stall as I downshift from 3rd to 2nd. It always restarted fine and had no problems for the rest of the day. I wonder if it's related to this harness issue.

 

Hasn't happened to me in a few months now, though.

Yeah the harness was changed three weeks ago, but the problem stopped occurring a few months before that.

 

It was probably related to something else, maybe not waiting long enough before moving off in the morning.

Hey bro, it might not due to the wire harness but most likely wld be the safety sensor of the side stand..

This happened to me and FYI i've modified all my ground sub wire harness connector. First time it happened, sent to HL but the services sucks plus they dont cover at that point of time. so to those who have your bike recalled make sure send to HL the soonest.

 

The symptoms are..the digital indicator blinking, no headlamp, no signal & the fuel indicator indicates reserves or lower even though its full tank. basically there's no current passes thru therefore the bike unable to start or having difficulty in cranking...
