I've been riding FJR for 9 yrs. I can't rmb how many close shaves I've encountered and somehow survived them. Each time I tot to myself: "This time confirm eat gravel liao.." but somehow the bike recovered itself. And mine is a gen I, no ABS, no CBS and of course no traction control.

I've not ridden a GTR and I've never considered buying one partly because I have the impression Kawa parts are more ex. Another reason is also because I prefer machiines with simpler technologies. The more complex the system is, the more difficult its is for you to understand and the higher the chance for sth to cock up. I like to understand my ride.

FJR has been proven to last. Its FJR for me all the way.

Biting on the fray of my hair, I muse upon the way to find the oasis of evermore beyond the vertical horizon, I shall join the windupdeads in owl city, neither my safetysuit nor my red jumpsuit apparatus can save me, cuz I mistook a death cab for cutie in plain white T's...

I have heard that previously Kawa parts have to be wait because the main supplies comes mainly from KL... but recently Kawa has opened a branch in JB... so the waiting time delay for kawa parts are much shorter compared to previous days...

As always... each rose has it's thorns... there is no such thing as a perfect bike... There will be pros and cons for all bikes. In the end, it boils down to individualism... you like the bike, you keep it. You don't like the bike, sell it and buy a different one.

I like WanFazer calling his ride a name. For me, I too... believe everything around us has a soul... sometimes when I go long journey, I will pray silently to my bike to keep me safe and bring me home safely. In return, I will also take good care of my bike to reward her for taking care of me while I am on the road. Rider and bike taking care of each other = long lasting riding relationship. :)

Side box can fly off one meh? I never heard of such case before? So far, my side box seems to be firm and secure. What happen? What is needed to safe guard the sidebox? Is it due to wear and tear that the hook get loosen and sidebox get wobbly?

Well you do the right by compare it in silent....only your call apple or orange...

Even kawasaki will never comment badly on FJR, Yamaha will never say anything on GTR...

admired you can ride one GTR...not many here in Sg.

Ur rite bro.. That's y when pple ask me e diff between tis 2 bikes, i cnt advise coz i only rode my buddy's fjr for a very short while so its unfair for me to comment.. Pple kp asking me bout how's e power, performance etc.. I told them that i chose tis bike not coz of power (how fast it can go) but i chose coz e moment i sat on her, i fell in love with her..

N another major reason is my pocket not deep enuf for a BMW.. Imagine servicing e clutch plate cost more than $2k.. That amount can service 5x of clutch plate on Jap bike lolz..

My advise to all is to check ur panniers locking mechanism religously coz it happens to my buddy during our ride up north.. On e way back to sg, we stopped for fuel at sungai buloh n i noticed there's "something" on his bike (between e right side pannier n seat).. I asked him wat is dat, to his surprise, its e pannier's locking mechanism !!! Y it didnt drop when we were cruising @ 160-180km/hr we oso dunno n e miracle thing is dat e pannier lid didnt open during e entire ride for bout 200km !!! Btw im sharing wat had happened to my buddy for valuable lesson that i can share with u all, dun later i kena flame by e regulars here :)

For Gtr there's e aftermarket retensioner bracket to hold e panniers from vigorous vibration n e panniers wud still detached upon impact (as part of safety measures n Fjr also having e same).. I dun recommend to fix a bracket that's permanently secure e panniers to e bike coz in case of impact, e panniers can't automatically detach n will pose danger to e rider.. Just my personal opinion..
