Back to my favourite shop, on Valentine's day. It was a mixed feeling.

Happy to be there, but sad at the same time because I was there alone... (no cai) :(

14/02/2009

02:50 pm

weather: Sunny

mood: :) mixed with :(

When there because bike cannot start.

Thought it was a battery problem, because it was ok the next day after the first time I had the problem, after ridding. But now everyday problem... :dozed:

When I went there, there wasn't the usual crowd, probably all dating... ...

EXCEPT ME!!! WHY! WHY!!

Ah Peng was the one who did my bike. After testing the battery with a volt meter, he confirmed that it was a relay problem, and proceeded to change the relay.

5 mins later Voila! Bike is revving like it was new!

Paid $30 for the relay and workmanship.

Great service at a good price!

Met Mad Fox there as well, seems he's pretty lucky everytime he meets me.

First time was after he bought his bike and needed advised on what to do first.

Now he is selling away his modded phantom, to get a Shadow, but didn't bring his phone!?!?!

Later he told me he left it in his Vespa. Good thing I was there to lend him mine.

Guys if you want a modded phantom with BIG head light & BIG footrest.

Mad Fox is selling his bike with the above accessories for $1,500 firm. :)

Grab it while you can.

unless you want to stay at the shop to oversee what they change.. normally its more of trust, and planet is a shop i trust.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Yup! These days its rare to place trust anyhow... But i do trust Planet... Anyway, to satisfy urself, ask to see all the parts that they have replaced... The replaced parts shouldnt be "all over the place" if they came out altogether from your bike... Know what i mean?

yup, i've seen many times ah chong showing the replaced parts to the bike owners before making payment, all the replaced parts will be placed in a box...

of course, one can argue that the parts might not be from one's bike, but if that's the case, the only solution is to do the overhaul oneself... hehe...

True dat! Some people who are new in the biz might try a trick or two... But those that are long in the biz and recognized by many to be reliable shouldn't be a problem..

But I just have a feeling that unless they upgrade their tools or machinery, they might just be outdated and only cater to the older bikes... I dunno why but I just feel like Im in a JB workshop when Im there... Lol...

1) Workshop

Asked before Ah Chong why he dun do a renovation. Think he told me it was renovated some time back. Said no point since it will be dirty fast. True, but I think the grime on the floor is at least 1 inch thick. haha....

2) Trust

Been with Planet for 5 years already. Cant see myself going anywhere. (There is no such nonsense like a $4-5 bulb costing $8 a few days later os other assorted crap i personally encountered elsewhere.)

He showed me the parts he changed from time to time more for my knowledge. Once the trust is earned, it will be there.

I left my bike at his shop countless times, and I do not have to worry whether some scheming ******** will do something funny to it.

3) Future

Most of the bikes serviced can be handled with the same old spanner anywhere. It's the skill that counts.

Unless you are talking about ABS, electonic suspension, then i wonder if most of the shops in Sg can handle at all.

Have a nice day/ ride.

Anyone knows how Ah Chong charges for EO change for S4?

I just got mine recently and read that S4 uses 3.2L of EO, so do I purchase 4 bottles of EO and what happens to the remaining 0.8L?

Also, does he change the oil filter together while doing EO change? Thanks for all advises.
