All,

Would appreciate your input and advise on the cost to repair piston jam for x1 at planet motors? Just got this bike over a month and unfortunate it got piston jammed. Worry for the high cost though...I suspect could be low or no EO topup from previous owner when he mentioned all got serviced..anyone know the cost?

Just call him n ask. 67474740. Ask for ah chong. Or simply tow to his shop. I doubt it will cost more than $400.

104th Time at Planet! :cheer:

29/10/2013

04:50pm

weather: Got thunder

mood: Tired

I got my bike resprayed recently and when it got back, the neutral light doesn't light up and the paint shop didn't fix back my IU.

So when I went to Planet to get my engine oil change, I also got Ah Chong to check out what's wrong the neutral light and fix up my IU.

The place was crowded, even on a weekday. Later I learned that the China mech's dad passed away and he is going back to China to attend to the funeral. :weep:

As the queue was long, I settled outside the shop with a book and sat down on a kerb to start reading and to my pleasant surprise, I heard a familar voice greeting me "Hello Silent"

It's jtzx !!!!!

And his girlfriend! :shy:

And his friends! :)

And his bike!

So we chatted for a while before the group left.

1 hour later.....

Ah Chong saw my bike already and said " I should have reminded you not to spray the fins of the top block, because a thick coat of paint will prevent the engine from cooling properly and overheat." Actually he said it in madarin and Hokkien so it's alot faster. :cheeky:

While changing oil, I asked Ah Chong about the neutral light and he went about dismantling the sensor and told me to check on the neutral light. When Ah Chong asked "Got light or not?" I could see only a very dim light on the green sensor but it's a light and I answered excitedly "Got! Got! Got light!"

Then Ah Chong had a comeback that wiped the smile off my face.... "Got light means the gear box inside got problem already.... because that means the sensor is working and the problem is with the metal stick inside the gear box that touches the sensor's end to indicate it's in neutral. Stick broken nothing touches the sensor means no light even though the sensor is in working condition."

"So how to repair?"

"Overhaul open gear box then replace the little stick lor" :faint: :faint: :faint:

Yap! Second time hear of repair neutral light must overhaul engine.

But it's a first at Planet!

Then Ah Chong tried fiddling with it again before putting the sensor back. This time, the light was even dimmer, and I had to cover the light indicator to see if there was a green light. Then I told Ah Chong got another light, like a signal light like that shining from below the panel cracks, but it doesn't blink. Ah Chong was very puzzled and told me there shouldn't be any signal light.

As Ah Chong went about getting the new engine oil, I was very puzzled too, and looked around to see where the light came from then I smiled when Ah Chong got back.

"No need to overhaul loh!!!!"

The neutral light's bulb dropped out!

Ah Chong quickly reached in and pushed the bulb back into the socket! And Voila! Neutral light is back!

Then came the IU, the uncle at Planet got me a stainless steel bracket and started fitting RUBBER sockets into the holes and told me nowadays when IU inspection if got no rubber to cushion the IU, the inspector will ask you to go home and claim the reason for failure as damaged due to vibration!!!"

Huh? Like that also can?!?!? :(

After fitting on the IU, Ah Chong said my Phantom's the side stand cannot go up and said only the owner knows why.

I thought nothing of it until I tried to ride the bike home.

The side stand really cannot got up!!!!

Why like that one?!?!?!

After poking around I saw something weird. The spring of the side stand keeps pressing against a nut when it goes up and springs it right back!!!!

So after adjusting the spring back into the correct position, I went home happily with my bike fixed and my neutral light working. FOC. :)

105th Time at Planet

06/11/13

01:46pm

weather: Fine

mood: anxious

"Ebony" got a flat tire yesterday while riding.

I manage to limp my "Ebony" back to Yishun, but the tire was so flat, it was partly out of the grooves of the tire rims.

So I called a tow truck to tow it to Planet.

Went down to collect back my newly painted Black Phantom, didn't stay long, because I was rushing for an appointment.

$180 for a pair of Metzeler tires front and back Tow fee included.

What I wasn't too happy with was that my newly painted bike got it's tank's paint disfigured!

From the looks of it, it's probably the work of the tow truck straps.

While I was there, Ah Chong told me that I had to put back the rear box. Huh? I never lock the box mare? :?

When I asked him if I had forgotten to lock the box which is why he took it off, Ah Chong told me that it was because the bike was too heavy and he took it off to lighted the load.

Huh?!?!? So how did he take off the box without the key?

So I asked Ah Chong, and he said his hand got the key and showed me two fingers.

Rascal probably pried the box off the base plate... and is trying to pull a fast one on me. :sian:

Quickly fixed on the box and rode off.

After leaving Planet, the riding like a bit weird, the wheel is like sharp one, as though I was riding on wheels that are V-shape in the middle and will lean to one side or the other.

So went to the petrol pump to check. Alamak!!!! The tire pressure was 340 KPA almost 80 KPA above the recommended pressure!!!

does any one know how much the Planet charging for the tow service . I have engage the tow service before 1.5 years ago and the price is quite reasonable and I managed to get the tow bike company contact .

My bike broke down today and i need tow service.

I remember it was quite reasonable the other time i call planet shop but the price that he quoted me is quite ex .

If you service at planet, I remember it's 20-30 depending on bike size. It's expensive due to holiday season I guess.

The only reason why I'm not laughing with you is that I prefer laughing at you.

106th Time at Planet! :)

14/01/2014

06:20pm

weather:Fine

mood: Tired

Went to Planet after work to get a replacement signal light orange cap and cheap mineral oil. At Planet, I ask Ah Chong if he can get my side boxes sprayed to black, but Ah Chong referred me to Gold Hill about 6 shops down the row.

The shop quoted me $120!!!! Spray all black on brand new boxes, no need to sand or polish also $120? I U-turned and walk away, but the boss wasn't offended, because he also said for me is abit "Bo Hua" but the time taken to get the job done is the same, and I guess they have to charge enough to make ends meet. :(

Anyway, I had to buy the whole signal light assembly, because the cover alone nobody sell one.... :(

Paid $20 for the signal light and mineral engine oil.

Will be back for next oil change.
