Yup yup.... would prefer a saloon. Thanks for recommending......

So far seems like Rio has more votes over Gen2. Though prices are similar, there are actually so much more Rio than Gen2 on the road. Cant seem to notice many on the road (most are Mazda3.... perhaps due to the lookalike). Just because its a Msia brand? Or is it really more inferior?

Nice nos. for VTECs... Fated to ride VTEC :cheeky:

Maybe most of us just prefer other makes to Msia brand.. N i remember at one point of time when proton saga came here, it has lots of problems and almost everyone hates it.. Maybe it started from there..

honestly re-sale value now is not really alot between jap and korean cars... or shld i say only car dealers earn from the re-sale value...

i think this reputation of better reliability was establish in the 1980s when korean cars were using lousy engine/parts... and when jap cars were the more reliable brand... but after so many advancement in korean cars... i think u'd still have a pretty good car...

the only high re-sale value car is if u can get ur own buyer for ur car... which is very hard... least harder then bikes...

my suggestion is that u choose a car u LIKE and within ur budget... i personally would like a civic over an avante... but budget dun allow it... so i'll chose a avante...

so dude worry abt re-sale value ONLY if u wanna sell ur car in like 3-5 years time... cos honestly after that unless u are a really 'branded' european car... i dun think u would get a good price...

Agreed with the fact that resale value is not the really 'IN' thing now after cars became so cheap and with the intro of OPC.

Came down to Gen2 and Rio cos as the subtitle suggests, cheap but still-can-see, but performance and maintenance wise? Of cse understand that 'you get what you pay'.... Perhaps have to test drive then can confirm.

Any Gen2 owners around? Or more Rio-s? Pls comment.....

Hmm.... Looks like Rio is leading the votes.... Recently read from papers that Proton is unprofitable and is giving headache to the Msia govt. They cant hide the fact that if they really cant sustain, it could be taken over by foreign car-makers. Seems quite unstable like that leh.... 'Skali' proton down how? If take over by good company will be good though...

Insurance lobang? No problem, I can share. PM me.

Like some of the guys here who mentioned test drive the car and decide with your gut feeling, I totally agree. When I was stil choosing between the (Old) VIOS & the new Rio, the comments on VIOS Forum made it 95% "confirmed" for me to buy it the Toyota. A test drive between both models made me go for the Rio and I have no regrets since.

I got my Kia Rio 1.4 MHB close to a year ago and I'm really happy with it up to this very moment. In terms of the outlook, it's considered "can see", the acceleration is really terrific, ability to overtake on the road is excellent too. Moreover, the FC is good too - at least 13km/l. The interior is spacious, which applies for the boot as well.

I bought it without test-driving and on the day it was delivered to me, I was really impressed with it's performance.
