Has anyone been failed for inspection just because of a non-original brake disc?

I went for inspection at Vicom Bt Batok yesterday but was told that the racing boy oversize flowery disc brake that is fitted onto my RXZ is not allowed. They wanted the original disc brake. So i had to borrow from a bike shop which charge me for that. I dont know if its LTA's regulations or it's just that Vicom want to make more money. I checked on the LTA website but they never say such modification is not allowed.

So can anyone clarify whether the oversize flowery disc brake considered as illegal modification?

Wasted money on borrowing the original brake disc and the 2nd inspection.

No.

I'll consider that as illegal modification for the simple reason that the braking abilities might not be as efficient or same as the original one. Thus they have every reason to consider that as illegal modification.

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB

Frankly speaking, the effect of an oversize disc brake is far much more better than the normal orginal one which is smaller in radius. So i still dont understand why would they consider it illegal modification. Is it wrong to get a brake system which is more powerful than the original one?

Its possible but they will take a longer time and I need my bike for transport purposes. So cant really afford to leave my bike with them.

Bro,

Logically and technically speaking, you are right and I agree with your argument whole heartedly.

But as what is quoted from LTA website,

LTA has a set of guidelines for vehicle modifications to ensure that standards for road safety and vehicle exhaust gas and noise emissions are not compromised, for the benefits of vehicle owners, other road users and our environment.

I trust that they are doing it for the safety of every road users including you and me.

IMHO, the adapter for the brake caliper is filmsy.. in other words, you dunno when it'll fail you.. these adapters/brackets are not precision cast/cut.. therefore will fail inspection in the eyes of those inspection centres..

best way to pass every inspection is to send to bike shops.. confirm will pass.. and of cuz a small price needs to be paid..

I've seen bike shop send bike for inspection b4.. No need to start also.. Just test brake only.. Worst still.. Got 2bro exhaust... Location? Kakit bukit inspection centre.. Where else if u bring our bike there, must test dis test that.. Well.. Life is so unfair.. lolxxx...

Bro, find a good day, den send in the morning. Tell them u need the bike urgently for work, they will usually put u in the priority list.

I sent my bike at 9am, went to school, came back to the shop at 4 and den zoomed ard the island.

From wat i understand , So long as the disc/ any aftermarket part is from a reputable brand and is TUV aproved and certified , inspection centres and ROVs/TP wont say anything.. I using a Galfer wavey disc and so far no probs at Tp/ROVs roadblocks and at inspection centres ..

I would say its more for ur personal safety as alot of the made in thailand disc are of poor design and construction

the roller thingy can pass but the next question is whether the disc is heat resistant and whether it suffers from major brake fade due to heat under consistant braking , and performance under wet weather conditions is questionable ?
