sg petrol supposed to be cleaner coz the pump got regularly inspected for rust and stuffs..... My may not be that strict in this and may be "contaminated". But generally, it is all the same stuff but at a cheaper price.

my FC stays 30-32km/L (so little -_-) for shell 95 98 vpower.. haha not much diff =\

Is your's TA150? Just curious cos my dad's TA150 gas consumption is similar to that.

You bet!! I don't find any difference in quality for both gases only difference in price... 50% discount!!! Can you beat that  ?

I usually pump shell 98 but if its really true that 95 is better then i'll guess i will be changing to 95 then, the price difference is quite significant.

Not much difference for bikes. If I'm too lazy to fill up gas at JB, I'll go to the nearest gas station here and fill up with 92 formula for my Busa... no difference in FC and mileage.

Are u sure it's a TA150? Because that's insane (low) and very much impossible IMO.

the major difference between 92, 95 and 98 is the compression ratio.

the higher the digit refers to how much it can be compressed. this being formula 98. the more it can be compressed, the higher the energy output upon ignition. this can be compared to the same analogy as a balloon.

when you squeeze the air in a balloon to a much smaller area of what it normally occupies and then burst it, the 'pop' is louder than when it is at undisturbed state.

hence, the more you can compress, the more energy you get. for small bikes, using formula 98 gives you more power because of this phenomenon. however because more fuel can be compressed into a cylinder, this also means higher consumption rate. this explains why pumping 98 has poorer mileage.

for larger CC bikes pumping 92 would be suffice because the cylinder is already large enough to produce the similar performance when you pump 98. so why waste money?

Perhaps. As it is a 2-stroker (more piston movements = more FC).

He learned that from me :cheeky: ...

lol i did ask him why 92 before..his explanation left me dumbfounded. :cheeky: just one sentence enough liao

Haha!!! What brilliant explanation did he give?

When I rented a bike in the US last year, their gas stations only had RON89 petrol as the highest grade ... hmmm... I think I'll try RON92 on my bike for the next few tanks to see any difference or not.. could do with some petrol savings..

i usually use shell92 for rounding or so, and higher grades for daily transport uses.. but then again to think back using shell92 for normal daily usage is also fine cos petrol will always be the same - it just brings you from point a to b.

occasionally using those "cleaning petrol" like techron, vpower maybe helps, that's my opinion and some other's.

Nicholai: sorry, i meant its very good FC. TA150's FC will never reach 30km/L. It is absolutely impossible IMO.

It is quite possible if you lower the timing of the engine, but constant and gradual activation of the throttle needed especially when going up slopes. Haha!! My dad didn't even bother to increase the timing.

lol he told me he read the manual and sth stating at least 91 grade, cuz singapore lowest is 92 so he pumped that? I was like woah? busa pump 92..haha ok la yr bro pamper busa alot seeing him go into m'sia so often also.

pump higher grade seemed to have lower mileage.

so use 92 sounds logical.

anyway, my ta200 FC is 27km/liter. saw 3 different mech all said engine is alright .. guess its my riding style. always like to drag lower gear at almost 80% throttle.

dun bother lah, fuel is cheap compare to a car ..

yea..full tank still can't go above 20 bucks..hmm V-power think max for me i tried slightly above 14 or so..

long time no pump full tank.

Maybe you calculated wrongly?

I disagree completely. Not logical enough to have such good FC.
