Yes, we'll see how it goes.

I've prepared a reply to the Forum in the Straits Times and Today in any case, should be sending out after I read this Sunday's article.

Even the smallest spark can start a massive forest fire...

Quotable Quotes: If you ride a motorcycle often, you will be killed riding it. That much is as sure as night follows day. Your responsibility is to be vigilant and careful as to continue to push that eventuality so far forward that you die of old age first

saw the article as well.. i believe they felt tat a neutral report would be rather distasteful, something more biased would stir up more public attention... to me, its nothing but a load of propaganda sh*t.

btw b4 i forget,

I don't think they are...

maybe not 'them'.... but the article surely will be....

i mean i cringe when i looked at the heading in today's advert. "Danger? What danger? Find out what other dangerous things motorcyclists do".

doesn sound like unbiased reporting to me.

could have been "Dangerous or no?" to discuss fairly the issue, could have been "The dangers of straddling" if they already decide it dangerous but wanna 'educate' the public..... but no..... it has to be "Tsk tsk tsk, look at these bikers, simply ignorant and oblivious and a danger to others, just LOOK at them...."

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

They have to get a reaction to sell their papers, and that's way tabloids work.

Well all we can do is just wait and see...

Just came across this interesting thread. Actually I don't even know abt this new rule. I had been pumping seated, and still ongoing... don't really care now, mostly pump at JB these days. For 92 here, half price for V-Power in JB wor :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: one bro mentioned JBs the way to go?? True.

NewPaper?? Do you take them seriously?? They are the English Ver of the Wan-Bao. Most things are dramatised. Soccer comments always quite inaccurate.

Vortex Platinum?? No wonder I always find the Caltex Petrol Station at JB :thumb:

well.

apparently motorcyclists were not the sole targets of the article as i anticipated after all.

on hindsight tho, their advert for the article shd have read "Find out what other dangerous things motorists" instead of the one they used that read "Find out what other dangerous things motorcyclists do." after all, only refuelling while straddling was the purely motorcyclist territory reported in the article; the other 'offences' in the article applied to all motorists. fair enuff bout the article, just the advert was a bit stupid i guess.

read the papers today...

i think with this highly-publicised article, other petrol will have a high chance of following suit..

the case that the fire caught on the scooter as mentioned by shell was merely caused by the sparks during the kick-starting process, and not the hot exhaust..

From article "It's possible that a fire could brrak out when fuel is spilt onto the hot exhaust of a motorcycle"

anyway, if u guys do read the newpaper, u might notice that about 70-80% of the article is talking about straddling on bikes, the rest on talking on hp/smoking/leaving engine on at petrol stations

well, upon further considerations, i decided to carry on topping up @ shell. still short of a little escape points to get back wat i deserved. i m not going to let them have the advantage. :nono:

btw, i was toping up alexandra shell the nite b4, they din give a sh*t abt me straddling.

Yep, Zaihan contacted me this afternoon and he was most interested to hear the biker's side of the story. Btw, he's a biker himself.

I will be presenting to him whatever exchanges we ever had with Shell, and also I will be directing him to the various threads in SBF and the online petition.

Bros, :thumb:

I read the article on TNP and really felt its the Singapore KS mentality. One of the reason they said is if there is a fire, the rider cannot run fast enough. Do they have to be so protective? Then how abt those people in their cars when pumping? Instead of a rule, they shld treat it as an advice.
