I always worry that I will kana rear ended if I stop in the centre of the lane behind cars.. scary, no way to escape except to wait for impact and lie on the floor scream in pain like a footballer..

 

Whoa u giving footballers too much credit man. They scream in pain? Bikers scream in pain. They scream as if theyre in Hindustan movies.

tdy while riding, nvr met with any incidents but saw 1.

 

taxi driver signal and wanted to lane change while negotiating the bend from PIE towards BKE but there was an old sch mini bus shape car beside. taxi die die also wanna lane change and nearly cause the car to bang the right side of the rear bumper. car driver very angry, rev and chase aft the taxi and keep tailgating. taxi LL cannot lane change cuz beside got vehicles. once taxi see lane 2 got space, faster lane change and sped off. he then continue to weave in and out of lanes as though rushing towards the gates of hell

I was on my way to Kallang KFC at 5:15pm along CTE when .... .... JAM !!!

All 3 lanes hardly moving!

 

From Lentor Jam all the way until pass Yio Chu Kang! Saw from the display board got accident. Actually no need to see also know must got accident, otherwise where got jam until like that.

 

Time to lanesplit!

 

But then hor..... got a very very very KuKu rider in front of me. Went between lane 1 and 2 then "Ai Mai, Ai Mai" one.

Go and then E-Brake, Go and then E-Brake. Think he was riding a pulsar. Number was F##5118#

 

Wah Piang Aiiiieeeee!!!! Even the space big enough for a bike with 3 boxes to pass easily he also ride like that.

Nearly bang into him twice. Don't dare to lane split "Siam" one side and let others through then follow behind and learn lah! When I first got my Phantom also learnt by following what!

 

But this wasn't the best part.

As we were lane-splitting, there was this unlucky driver of a white car who wanted to change lane to the middle lane. Don't know why he wanted to do that, because lane 2 is where the accident vehicles are much farther down the road.

 

Most likely got impatient in his lane. Anyway, there was a small gap that opened up in the middle lane and this white car wanted to go in and it just so happens that the KuKu rider in front of me braked and so the driver thought he can make it and accelerated edging out to the next lane. And then.... Suddenly... The Ku Ku rider speed up and looks like he was going to ram the white car. WTF?!?!?!

 

The driver saw him coming and quickly turned back, but could not brake in time and rammed into another white car in front of him.

 

I shook my head. Wah Lao! I riding a Giant scrambler behind him also no need to brake like him lor. And he pulled such a bone-head move and "Hai-ed" the driver of the white car. The driver of the white car must really hate bikers now.

 

The rider of a kup directly behind me wearing a green shirt and the scooter behind him see already all "Siam" and went to the next lane to lane split. @#$%^& I better avoid this Bone-head rider too before I become his next victim. So I followed behind the kup and we all cleared the jam from the left.

 

Lesson learnt today. There are idiot riders that cause accidents too.

 

Farther down the road, the accident that caused the jam was between 2 lorries and another car/van (didn't get a good look) that got sandwiched between them. The car/van the back windshield all gone, glass all over the floor. Just as I thought at least no riders injured, I saw another car and a blue R1/R6/R15 at the right side of the road, the head all "chui"

 

Hope he is ok.

In this kind of scenarios, I would tailgate especially close to the kuku rider and try to split between him and the cars an force him into the middle of the centre lane... And the accident would not have happened... Kuku riders should keep on the extreme left lane and ram into the bushes and not cause other road users accidents... 👍

I would just use the horn though. Its there for a reason. Sometimes a rider/driver needs to be woken up and realised that they are driving/riding erraticly.

Agreed!! Stupid fools. See summor want to ride as if he's the only one paying road taxes. That's why when I overtake this kind of riders in the narrowest window i can find don't give him the thank you wave.

I share ur sadness in regards to ur case. My comment was made toward ur comments where u will squeeze even though e bike in front is lane splitting. And u will "force" e rider in front to give way. No reference at all to ur case, dunno y u think just becoz u r right in some cases = right in all cases.

Sadly i find squeezing pass a bike during lane split is extremely dangerous. i hope u guys who does it pls do so carefully. Lane splitting is already walking on tight rope. Now become 2 bike walking on e tight rope. Just 1 slight minor mistake and gG plus between 2 cars.

 

Pls think twice.

 

But i agree sometimes i also frustrated an wish these slower riders can lane split at e slower lanes. But i will remind myself not to let anger or emotion get me during a ride. Isnt this wat we always tell ourselves?

i just wish to share my opinions on some of e comments being shared. Everyone is entitled to their own and just becoz i disagree doesnt mean u r wrong and i am right. I am not suggesting this. Naturally it does not mean u r right and i am wrong either. My intention is just to highlight some of e comments and compare with those things tat we r complaining about.

 

1) squeezing through while another bike is lane split in front of u slower than u.

 

We often complain about cars change lane no signal. Or not enough space or just nice space also wan to change lane. So y is it tat some of us thinks tat squeezing through a lane splitting bike is ok?

 

Is there enough space? Depends on individual. I definitely think tat e tiny space for lane splitting is not enough for 2 bikes side by side.

Is it safe? Read above.

Is it worth it? No

 

2) e bike in front lane split slow wasting ur time.

 

Sometimes we also complain tat e taxt, car, trucks, watever likeing catching bullet train to hell. Ecoz they cut here and there or try to squeeze every seconds tat they can save.

 

So by squeezing pass e bike in front during lane split will save u half an hour?

 

3) e bike lane splitting in front is in his own world. So "force" e rider to give way by tailgating or something.

 

E bike in front on lane 1 too slow for me. So i drive car tailgate him make him go lane 2. Sounds familiar? Becoz it is e same thing.

 

 

To sum up. I m not saying tat road hogging is ok. Which is a variation of wat e slower lane splitters r doing. But i hope we can learn to be more patient and sharing. I noe for every rider tat will willingly move aside to let faster lane splitters go, there will be 9 more riders tat doesnt.

 

But there is no need to "force" e slow rider to give way (eg 3).There is no need squeeze in a tight unsafe situation (eg 1). There is no need to save minutes (eg 2). my opinion is tat if we try to do any of eg 1 to 3, then we r no better than e fup drivers we r cursing daily.

 

Which is y i say fup. I'm sry but especially to e "force" example. Maybe it is just e choice of words. I hope we can take a step back and look at e examples and try to relate to e situation. Maybe some of u will agree and realise my opinions. Maybe most wont. But some of u already noe my pattern i hope. I'm just trying to convert as many pple as possible to make e roads safer for myself.

 

Ps: i noe it is close to impossible objective but i will still try. As to y i say "safer roads for myself" is becoz i dun c myself as a "hero" trying to save everyone. I m just a selfish rider/driver trying to make things better for myself.

Sorry didn't make myself clear. By 'tightest window' I meant when the cars are spaced enough for me to leave at least an arms length of distance between me and the slower rider while I overtake him using the space between the leading and trailing cars. Not where 2 cars left and right, 2 bikes in between. I don't have balls big enough to do that. Or maybe I just don't like to get into an accident. 😁

Anyway i also do overtake during lane split. But same as u, when between e leading and trailing cars on left/right side got roughly 3 car length+++++++ the i dot it.

 

But usually i just follow and enjoy e ride.

On some roads, i keep to lane 1 and stay on e right side behind car and dun lane spd. Becoz i noe i sure slow and jam up e lane split lane. But usually reach e end of e road can still c bikes tat furiously tried to lane split.

 

U noe sometimes lane split difficult, emotions will rise, anger will up also. Will think this car tat car fup cannot keep to e side properly. Then hot + engine heat, bla bla. So i became wiser and just relax slowly. currently i dun lane split (most of e time) for e famous adam/lornie road.

No no. Have been involved in one accident make me realize accidents aren't worth it. Erm really subject to speed man. Safest way to summarize is 2 second rule la I guess. So it varies with the speed that I'm actually doing as far as distance is concerned.

Good for u. ^^ but sometimes e front bike slow down and i catch up unintentionally. Then will slow down to keep space. But seldom c this behavior.

 

Usually e dragon form very pretty with any breaks in e links. Then touch wood, will become like a dragon head with a compressed body.

If car tailgating you and you are already travelling at speed limit and there is no other free lane no choice is to either speed up or just continue riding. Car tailgating does not necessarily means you are slow it could also be the car is speeding. There are always two possibilities or more. Just like the glass is either half empty or half full. Agree or not is up to individual. We can please some but not everyone.

if i'm taking the whole lane, and there's vehicles about 2 sec in front of me, and another vehicle try to tailgate from my rear, of course you will F the driver for tailgating.

 

but turn the situation around, if there's no vehicle in front, and another vehicle comes close, of course i move away, as they are travelling faster. unless he/she sticks to your rear no matter which lane you go to.

 

now re-enact the situation while lane-splitting.

 

even if i'm bike 2, or 3, or 4, and i feel i'm holding up the bikes behind, i just move over and wave them thru. i rather lane-split at my own pace than to endanger myself and other users.
