I guess with all the good happenings, there's bound to be bad happenings too. Today nearly "kanna" ._. quite a long time never near shave already.

To be fair, the driver is sorry about it. To be fair, I do not know whether this happen often to him or not. To be fair he admits his fault and continuously apologised. To be fair, I also assumed that he saw me and will give way before entering the major road. And yet, I was on high alert and thus didn't rear end him.

After the previous merc shave. At another road, not captured on camera, I guess emotion got e better of me. Another car, BMW, sporty 5 series type, starting from a red light moving off, I pick up spd first. And then I saw from side mirror and sense that he wanna "eat" me. Just in front was merging lane and for some reason today, I took e car on and move slightly right and twist throttle. Anyway nothing much to say since it was only a traffic light to traffic light distance.

Of coz I reach the other traffic light first becoz when I "twist", he stop his acceleration. At the next traffic light, again I move off first (E BMW was behind me at the red light), this time no acceleration from the BMW. Maybe he think (1) this rider crazy, so dun play. (2) this bike too fast, cannot eat. (3) dun wan waste fuel. (4) this bike too slow, no fun. ^^

Today happening for me...

This sort of happens everyday for me, close to everyday. I always ride in rush hour traffic and I ride quick. I don't know if I should be telling you, don't ride on the lane nearest to the filter lane. Drivers are blind, sometimes stupid, enough money to drive, not enough to give brain enough intelligence. Enuff said.

yup.. met a few cars that already cut into half the lane den driver starts to signal for 1-2 flashes and turn it off.. in a sense, might as well dun signal

I don't suffer from insanity,I enjoy every minute of it.

Just last Friday, I met a BMW driver. I turned out of a filter lane and stayed left all the way. Also because I was heading PIE TUAS which was not far from where I turn out. He just came behind me horn + tail gate me. Note, I was on the extreme left lane and when he horned me i turn on my left turn signal. It went down the turning ramp leading to PIE from Upp Changi East Rd. It's only a 1 lane road. He die die wanna cut me, had to squeeze into the lane with me and come beside me even while I was turning down the ramp. I was like WTH? Was he trying to kill me? I kept to the furthest left of the lane because he keep squeezing to my right, then he continued. Just a little more than a slight change in my turning line and I'd hit into him. Assholes don't deserve to keep their license.

The funny thing is, later on the expressway was a super long jam and I probably passed him... What a retard.

@WAItforme. Thanks. I'll do this as long as I'm free or until i give up. Lol. Just hope more will be able to do something similar.

Ur example ya now becoming common. Like edalpha said, might as well dun signal le. Another common thing is minor turn left into major roads but turn into 2nd lane instead of left most lane and keep left. :/ but bikes also do this often. But at least bike pick up fast. ^^

@xiaoviper. Glad u r fine. Do be careful on e road!!!

Edit: immediately after posting this, saw another thing i hate tat usually happens in carparks. Carparks r usually single lane dual way carriage roads. So it is common to c cars making a turn and crosses into e other direction lane. When i sit at a busy junction in e carpark at my home, i think my neck will break becoz i shake my head so much at every car ta makes this mistake.

Will post a sample later.

Happened to me before years ago. Was on PIE and exiting Eng Neo. While exiting a green pick up truck squeezed on my right which in turn forced me out of the lane and had to go into the shoulder. Slowed down and let the damn pick up overtake and got back into the lane after checking that it was clear and safe to do so.

No la. I'm can only teach how to drive in a way tat pple think u road hogging. usually 3 car length+. For e merc case, e uncle wasnt laughing in my opinion. Its just his way of trying to be friendly and apologetic.

Ya i also think u unlucky. But if really encounter so much. Maybe u wan to increase ur scope of free space?

Free space?? Done tat. But those drivers are out to kill.

Nowadays? This problem has been around since recent yrs. Standard of drivers dropped so much.

I experienced more of these kinda situation when i riding rather than driving. It's the mentality of these kinda drivers.

When they see bikes, they dun give a damn.

If they see cars, they siam away.

In certain traffic conditions sometimes, I can travel faster when driving rather than riding. How weird is that? :sian:

No man. I think the opposite. He was already laughing even before he opened the car door. Sometimes old folks think they're on their own world. ' oh **** I almost knocked into a bike and now te riders coming to confront me' the confrontation is what he thinks about. Id dare to say if you ask him what wouldve happened worse case scenario he would still show u that dumb smile face.

Don't get conned by senior Citizen drivers.

U r right tat he already ve tat face before he step out of e door. But im willing to accept tat some pple r born or behave in such manners. Maybe he idnt noe wat to do or wat kind of face to show thus can only smile like tat.

Understand ur concern but i do hope u dun mind if i encourage u to approach e manner in a kind way if u can. I noe e anger tat e rider will ve since it happened to me and I'm glad tat i manage to control my anger. I do hope all riders will be able to do e same. My hope is tat more and more drivers will c tat riders r not immature pr reckless like most pple think.

Fact is i think many pple think tat riders r riders becoz we r poor and ve no choice. they also think tat riders r reckless and ve no care for life pr safety. Some drivers behave this way towards riders becoz of this wrong mindset. Well some riders r like tat but i would think not majority. Thus i hope if we can respond with kindness and maturity, things may improve. Of coz there r times and situation to release our anger but in my case, i think we can try to control. :)

@metalgear. I think ticks opinion isnt wrong. If i were to look at my case with different eyes i may think tick's way. But my principle is more towards willing to trust.

And just to clarify. E uncle is in e wrong so if i wanted to make mountain out of anthill i can. I was shocked, frighten. I could ve required medical aid to help me slp. I might ve some hidden symptoms which will make me not able to ride again. So yes i can make mountain if i had e reason to regardless of how nice, kind, calm or apologetic e uncle was. Of coz i choose to behave e way i did which i dun expect everyone to follow. Just hope everyone can try

If the driver did apologized by hand gesture or saying it and know he was in the wrong I would not make such a big fuss over it unless somebody died or got hurt. We are only human. To err is human and to forgive divine.

Its those drivers that could just ignore and pretended nothing happened and avoid eye contact that gets on my nerves.

I think you are good for actually being active in your riding experience. Most of us would just let it go or gestured angrily but you actually take the time to give your take to the driver. I somehow think that takes more balls especially when they are in the wrong.

I had more issue with ticks gross generalisation of senior citizen drivers. Nothing to do with your own handling of the situation. That's why I said why he think so much about it till making a mountain out of a molehill. One wrong but at least apologetic senior citizen driver does not mean that "Sometimes old folks think they're on their own world." That statement can be said for anyone.

Maybe ticks had some bad experience thus e comment. But i agree the same comment can be used for all age group. =D thus, nothing much wrong with e comment in the first place. =D But i think i catch his meaning. Sadly I too ve encountered, not on the roads, where senior citizens uses their age to attempt to get advantage. I'm generalizing too, of coz i'm not saying all seniors r like tat but i'm guessing tick's meaning is not to give extra chance just becoz they r seniors. But in my case, regardless of the age of tat merc driver, I would ve behaved the same if e driver showed signs of admitting e fault.

Anyway thks for ur compliment, it is tireding but it is 1 of my many principles. I actually do this not just on the road but even in crowded places where some pple especially guys walked without looking where they r going. My objective is to protect my gf since small size kanna buang by big size on the pavement = lugi... Somemore guy buang gal = gal lugi++. Examples r pple walking with their eyes glue on their phones, I would hold their shoulders and ask them to stop and pay attention to their walking. If not crowded places i dun mind.

@Jehuty. Careful, if caught on camera, they ve a right to sue u and u won't ve a case unless u recorded the portion tat lead to e finger. Still i find this anger gesture not useful since if the driver does not understand wat happen, it will just reinforce their ideal tat riders r fup and e road rage case becomes more imprinted in their memory. If they understand y u did tat, then they may also think tat u r not gracious and unable to give chance, forgive and forget.

@blogsharing. I thought e previous video was the end but turn out, encountered more things.

Random fella here, cycling can anot? I'll just make this post anyways.

About less than an hour ago, almost kena knocked down at traffic light, at the crossing along the road between downtown east and the sports complex.

Was on the sports complex side waiting for the crossing light to turn green, same time change song on mp3. Got two other cyclist beside me, don't know them. Light turned green and one of the other cyclist move off first, followed by me abit slow cuz putting mp3 back in pocket. Opposite side of the road got a few vehicles on left lane stopped already, but right lane empty.

The cyclist in front of me crossed the divider with front wheel on the road already, then this honda fit/jazz on right lane never see red light, brake too late and almost knock the guy in front of me down. He was going quite fast, jam brake till stop but cross the light already then just move off. Could have been me knocked down cuz I would usually move off quickly, but was fiddling with my mp3, so I think it just saved my life, phew... :faint:

I quickly turned onto the road and followed, traffic ahead was not moving so I didn't have to ride aggressively. Caught up with with him and can see he damn stress, one hand on forehead and face says it all. It's a young guy with a lady beside him, so most probably must have been talking too much. Waved at him with the wtf gesture, and pointed at my eyes. He waved a sorry, and his face still lagi stress, so i sua and just continued cycling. :dot:

I never take note plate no., only remember it's a blueish-black car, but whatever uh, I now type this still shaking abit, my bloody mp3 just saved my life?! Too young to die man, I can't even take license yet! Think if there was a car or bike stopped in the right lane, definitely would have been rear-ended badly. Drivers, please focus tyvm! :cheeky:

ok leh , senior citizen stop

seniorcitizen give a smiling or u call it laughing face..

which one better??

u wan 1 who stops and starts the knncb or with a que lan look ?

yes u can shout back or punch back , then that will become road rage.. also lose lose situation ..

news will put bikers stop car and then punch driver

Okay. Some people are on the verge of throwing a punch at me. I don't have a beef against any of you who ill responded to my comments, was just stating what I feel towards an everyday sight that can potentially kill rider and pillion on a bike. If the moderator feels I'm talking without a proper sense of mind, put me out then.

And I thank Daniel(though I dunno u personally) for looking through my view.

Clarification where it is due, I'm sick and tired of drivers that drive like that. Yes I work as a lowly driver myself and ride bike to go to work. And i remember to stop at stop lines and always give way. Yes maybe they're born with a silver spoon and a smiley face all the time. I've never got it, but imagine if it's a new rider there and the merc whack that rider, I'm just guessing, that these people will not give a second thought for the rider. What happens to the rider? Traumatized by the whole incident, without mentioning the endless possibilities.

Ok my fault at generalizing, but then the majority of them, by driving without realizing their capabilities, are becoming a danger on the road. Was it sterling moss who said he'd continue in the world of racing, as far as his body permits him, once he realizes that he is too old to race, safely, he'd be more than willing to call it quits. Now thats a senior citizen who knows his being on the road without the proper reflexes can be a danger to other drivers.

Back to the topic, yes I know Daniel did handle it well and able to calm himself better than I'd be able to. (my normal reaction would e to slow down, honk and give him my sarcastic thumbs up, middle finger honor is breaching the law I think?)But, after having the privilege of looking at the vid and thinking what I would've done(obviously Dan didn't have the luxury of time on his side), I'd say to that uncle imagine if it's his daughter on the bike and a car cuts into her path at a 'give way' lane, how would he feel? Still laughing like that?? I doubt so. To me, I seriously don't think the driver knew the worst case scenarios of that action of his. If we can throw his family member into the picture lets see how he pauses and thinks.

Or, since I'm already guilty of generalizing, I might as well say this. Heck he's a merc driver, in my eyes i don't really have a respect for big German car drivers. u think he'll let his offspring be on two wheels. Again, I doubt so.. he probably won't know what it is to be thrown off a bike lying in a path of an oncoming vehicle.

Don't wish to start a keyboard fight to fellow riders out there, just saying my thoughts with no intention of offending anyone. If any took offense,my apologies to you.

Peace out

humm makes sense leh..

sometimes will think abt worst case scenario , all onli themselve..

like cars /bikes. > no signal , last minute cut in , tailgate ..

all because trying to be one or 2 car length ahead..

all slowly ride/drive even with all high population or cars also will reach destination faster then the road got accident..

guess it boils down to mentality , take mrt also ppl hog the escaltor instead of keeping left..

i think its really very jia lat when u have to have advertisment for a courtesy campaign ..

After writing that and thinking now blood also boil. Can't sleep. Might as well type. Not boil towards the contributors to this thread, but to the inconsiderate drivers.

I'm not out to get support for what I say because I believe what I say. But it's nice to have those who understand. Especially those who have learned it the hardest of ways.

Take care bro.
