Its a public forum. Everyone should be allowed to voice out their opinions whether it it pleases or not. You can please some but not everyone. I totally respect you for voicing out your view.

 

After writing that and thinking now blood also boil. Can't sleep. Might as well type. Not boil towards the contributors to this thread, but to the inconsiderate drivers.

 

I'm not out to get support for what I say because I believe what I say. But it's nice to have those who understand. Especially those who have learned it the hardest of ways.

@lolibear. in future would be good to inform them of wat happen. Sometimes we do encounter this types tat wan to be nice but didnt realise tat their actions r not nice although is unintentional. So for this type can tell them nicely.

 

If u screw them like wat pjy suggest, they may not get it and just curse all riders as fup.

@WAItforme. Agree tat i rather e person smiling regardless of his mindset than e fup expression. Fup expression will make me bool too but i think i will still be able to stop myself from Fighting before i noe e consequences is bad. In such cases if got contact will just call police. Of coz ve to defensive subdue first. If no contact then will go report police with video. Even if no road accident, this becomes civil case of threatening to hurt.

 

 

@ticks. Thks for e compliments. Ur points r true too. But i think for drivers who r not riders, it often becomes very hard to think in e worse case scenario. But u r right tat if it was his son or daughter on e 2 wheels, he wont be smiling. I'll remember to use this example!!

 

But i think For drivers who really didnt c, even if it is their son or daughter they also wouldnt c. although it feels like some drivers like purposely, but i cant confirm tat fact. Then again i also c some drivers purposely aggressive towards other drivers so maybe these r e ones tat r out to kill all on e roads rather than just riders? Just my thought.

 

 

@juthey. Hi. Dun think there is a law against middle finger. Rather it is e implied intention behind e finger tat may get u into trouble.

The rider making the turn looks like some old guy. Sadly I have encountered these type of old folks riding similarly. But too lazy to confront. Later they keep emphasizing their senior position and experiences etc. I was once cut off abruptly by such. Horned and the uncle stopped in front of me and confronted me. Thankfully I managed to keep my cool. Last part from what I was able to see the lorry did proper overtaking. Cannot say the same for the car. Seems like it is trying to lanesplit? Even crossing the chevrons. No idea what it wants to do with the rider but it was lane splitting and was very close to the rider which I feel it is not safe.

i noticed at least govt is doing something such as having banners attached to the lampposts along shenton way to educate those inconsiderate drivers to be considerate, careful etc.hope this will have some effects on some.but i got no idea why this "campaign" such a quiet one:confused:

I think sg has become a country where no fine no change. :/ most road users noe and believe in e "wont be so suay tip me" mindset which includes both accidents and kanna fine. Thus e state of our roads, spding, careless reckless, etc

True rider was very slow. The driver think that it could easily overtake not keeping in mind that the lorry will not speed up to let it do a successful overtaking. The driver of the car have anticipated/estimated wrongly. And thus have to lane split. At 1:37 onwards. It suddenly decides to go back in lane or did it?

 

Should have just waited behind till the lane merges into the main road to overtake or use the horn to let the rider know he is hogging. As from what it looks like its another uncle type of rider. Not stereotyping or discriminating but most of them often feel like in their own world. When confronted they will bring up the seniority issue again. For the benefit of the doubt of the rider it did state a 50km/h road hence the rider might have really travelled at that speed according to his speedometer.

i experience the same thing for the 1st part of the video. bf was driving and there was a taxi waiting to u-turn like wat the vehicle did in the video. front of the taxi already crossed 1/3 into the oncoming lane. bf's car was behind another vehicle and couldnt see wat the taxi did. the car in front suddenly jam brake and my bf almost rear-ended the car.

i agree with u that the actions of the car were not safe for the rider. i feel that the driver of the car should have waited till both have already exited the filter lane b4 overtaking. by crossing into another lane, the car is a potential danger for the vehicles coming from behind too.

This morning while going to NTU along KJE.. Was pretty late for for some matter.. Infront of me got 1 rider which has more "CC" den me.. And also I think many times more.ego.. Die2 dun wan give way.. And instead tried to outrun.. In the end couldnt be bothered just sped up on lane 1 which is clear..

You got a point there too. Another would be it might deter people from wanting to drive and buy cars. Just look at the COE.

True that lane splitting is not safe and we do it at our own risk. But when driving its just not sensible to lanesplit. Even TP bikes lane split but have you ever seen a TP patrol car lane splitting?

IMO cars should never lanesplit. From the video we can see the rider noticed the car getting very near and the rider moved more to the left probably already cursing the driver quietly.

Lets for a moment forget e concept of lane split. Instead consider, e vehicle behind getting close. rider in front move more to e left. Vehicle behind overtake with roughly 2 bike width.

 

Now if we go back to concept of lane split, where of coz cars cant do it thus only applies to bikes only. Bikes getting close to e bike in front. Bike in front shift to left a bit. Bike behind overtake with i believe less than 2 bike width.

 

E above is wat I'm getting fellow riders to c. Not trying to justify wat e car did. Rather using e example to how tat wat we perceive as safe may not necessary be.

Glad someone caught my meaning. Most of e times when during lane split, when e lead rider moves to 1 side, we also overtake almost side by side or maybe just 1 bike width from e bike tt give way. Seldom if slow traffic case will ve chance for e lead rider to fully go into a lane to give way. But we still do it. Safe? Then y is e video example unsafe? Lets just assume first tat e driver noes wat he was doing becoz tats wat we riders r thinkin right? we noe wat we r doing and doing it carefully.

 

Well i too would ve prefer e video rider to just stay in e middle. And during lane split, if e rider in front dun give way fully, meaning he just inch to 1 side and expect me to go through, i would instead slow down to show tat im not overtaking. Sry but for my safety and others behind me, i find it risky to take such a slim chance. E lead rider could easily inch back to lane split position before u manage to clear him. Or cars on either side could inch a bit reducing e space or worse touch either e lead rider or e rider overtaking.

I am the uncle rider who stays at my own lane n ride at speed limits. at expressway I keep to most left but ppl will try over take me n come close to my right n once i have even hit the left mirror of the car which caused me to wobble n almost fall n that guy even hit n run without assisting me as i wobble till road shoulder n stop n most will push me to left n I have to horn after that experience is it wrong to stay at 60-70 while I am at most left lane? pardon me for riding at such speed as I ride a very small cc bike n I cannot go up till 80.

No u r not wrong since u ve already kept left. Its those who did tat to u tat r in e wrong regardless of their usual excuses. Sadly we can only do our best to be defensive riders as there is just nothing much we can do.

 

Which is y i ve decided to try and go offensive, tell these pple riders/drivers when i ve a chance. Report them to TP when it is more dangerous cases, yes i will report riders too but so far none tat i feel is necessary.

 

I hope tat by doing so, those who hear straight from me, some may be converted while others will carry on. For those tat i report, i hope TP do give them warning, i also wish chance is given as i may also sincerely make e same kind o mistakes, but hope tat e warning from TP may convert some while e rest carry on. Finally e in my opinion minor group of "killers", we can only pray tat we dun c them on e road.
