Today while riding... had a very unlucky day....

 

Rain heavily after the first traffic light from my car park!

 

Got quite wet before I could stop to wear my rain coat at the Yishun Dam, then after wearing rain coat, only a slight drizzle only...

While wearing rain coat, stepped on something, now left foot pain pain.....

 

Thinking of going home to change first, but scared will be late for work.

Then at my office, the bus that was booked for our event was late for 1/2 an hour.

Should have went home change.

 

Then when our bus finally arrived, while I was busy doing head count in the bus.... Wao Lau!!! Got missing people!!!!

So I got off the bus to find the idiots. While I was doing that, the manager chase the buses away because there were another 3 more buses coming in!

 

@#$%!!!! The bus left without me!!!

 

So I rode to chase the bus, got lost, and couldn't find the place. Never mind, I thought, got iphone can use google maps, but the place no reception!

Went round and round, until I hit reserve fuel when I finally found the place, the event started already.

I was wet, pissed, cold and left foot pain pain.

But luckily nothing worse happened. Or so I thought.

 

At the venue for the event, which is the Olympic Day run, went I changed to my running shoes, I found only 1 sock! Must have dropped the other sock when I changed to my rain shoes.

 

So ran without socks. Sigh!

 

After the event, while wearing my helmet, the wind blew my balacava onto the car park floor and into the drain.

So had to wear my helmet without my balacava after running 2.4km.

 

I had planned to go pump, after the 2.4km run, so while packing to go home, I realised I left my passport in my other bike!

 

So went to get passport first. On the way to JB, I saw another fellow rider pushing his bike on Mandai road, but didn't stop to help. I am already on reserve want to help also cannot help liao. So passed him by, then.... .... Very smooth ride all the way ah!!!

 

Bought things also swee swee, spent until my last 10 cents! And everything fits into the box.

If is bike then no prob liao. Becoz e bike went through already. Assuming e bike plan to run e yellow light. And sadly i agree with some of e youtube comments. Both at fault. But big vehicles like this shouldnt run yellow lights as they dun ve e pick up spd at that spd range. And if there is passagers on board will ve another set of issue.

 

Ferrari case is run red light so fault is obvious. But run yellow light is not illegal. Of coz we r taught to slow down at e 3rd arrow but in e video, e bus is more likely at e 1st arrow just before e line or even cross e first arrow just before e stop line then e light turn yellow. :/ so...

But at the same tym i tink must understand that these large vehicles have a much longer braking distance. Motorbike we ebrake still ok. If bus ebrake, passengers fly through the windscreen. Dats y i notice sum buses wen see yellow continue on instead of slowing down. Maybe we jux have to anticipate this behaviour.

Which is why its best to know the machine we are handling and it capabilities. We know that we need a further safe braking distance hence why we try not to tailgate other vehicles. Since these drivers of bigger vehicles know they would need a longer braking distance then they should have slowed down when approaching traffic lights. If my concussion did not scramble my memory I remember we were taught to slow down when approaching traffic lights right?

@Natery, naim, duo. From wat i c in e video. E bus like close to e line then light turn amber. But of coz we r taught to slow down when reaching e 3rd arrow. Between e 3rd and 1st arrow we should be slow, then pick up if light still green. Funny thing is i dun remember learning this in bike. Only car. Anyway I'm not defending e bus or saying tat e bus no wrong. But i guess e failt lies in not slowing down when reaching e junction rather then crossing when amber. Becoz if im not wrong crossing amber isnt wrong. And sadly, e bus is going straight. Thus even if amber, still is bus right o way.

 

 

@duo. Well, i think it is safe to say tat majority dun practice slow down when reaching traffic junction. Instead will accelerate. just look at e roads users tat will accelerate to e traffic junction even though it is red light and hard brake. For some reason sg like to queue alot even when on e road. I c red i stop accelerate and roll there. But i am guilty too, c green will mostly continue accelerate.

but the car driver also , whats the rush ? arrow light haven on , he turn liao .. some bikes also do that..

For a moment i thought it was ur video. agree tat e video owner also impatient. Now if such situation still ve oncoming traffic, i will guage if e oncoming vehicle i slowing down or still as usual spd. Sometimes e oncoming vehicle may not realise light ve change, thus may run red or yellow light. If i assume and take e turn, e one to lose out is me. Sadly in such cases, ve encounter before vehicles behind honk. But i ignore, let them think i slow, not brave, no balls, road hogging or watever. My safety my judgement.

Replace the bus with bike replace the amber to red the car might still turn. And when collision happens the driver will accuse rider of speeding. Funny place we living in.

the driver dares to chiong in that kind of situations, i cant imagine the bus is replaced by a bike. the outcome would be fatal as i assumed the driver will go ahead with the right turn. only thing that prevent the car is that the driver would be injure too when involved with a bigger size vehicle. (the comfort zone of driver is being threatened)

If e situation changes such tat amber is red, then e vehicle is run red light and not amber light which becomes illegal. If sadly accident happens then rider is indeed in e wrong. So it is no longer a case of spding. :/

 

basically as a rider, firstly ur bike performance up? If yes then u c amber when u r so near e line, u twist and go, e light will still be amber. if bike performance not there, then maybe e rider should practice slowing down when near traffic light so as to allow for reaction and braking. But how many do tat? :/ my bike now i also slow down when nearing traffic light even though i noe my bike will make it. Becoz i scare die.

i am not such an a s s to drive like that ... if it was me driving like that , i rather drive into bedok reservoir or yishun dam ..

i think car driver is clearly at fault. should have made sure that traffic is clear/come to a complete stop b4 making the turn and not assume that the bus will definitely stop.

 

for me, i usually make sure traffic comes to a complete stop 1st b4 making a turn. once bitten, twice shy. kena accident once at traffic junction. green arrow already light up, vehicles in lane 2 and 3 already stop. few secs later, taxi in lane 1 chiong red light. taxi saw us (my fren was riding and i was the pillion) turning, faster jam brake. luckily not a heavy impact, bike kena bang like as though stationary drop

the view of your camera seems like not in line with your eye sight . but the quailty is great ! maybe you can try using dark tape ?

@sickbot. Lol. When i happen i was worried for a moment. But thankfully got safety line.

 

 

@WAItforme. Well i ve to take care of my own safety ma. I do think i check alot but it is never too much!!

 

 

@NL27. For some reason, i ve not been able to find a perfect angle. Thus i ve decided to just let it point down slightly since theres no need to capture e sky.

 

As for securing. This is e 2nd time is fell off an e first was becoz it caught onto my glove velcro. thus this is e first time it drop off by itself. Dun really noe y but could be just nice checking blind then e safety line pull a bit and it all happen at once. But e 3m velcro is really strong so dun really ve to worry too much.
