Honestly, I hardly wave and signal to turn, as I stop and wait for a safe slot instead of pestering drivers to give way. Only make hand signal for drivers behind to overtake me, probably because my route is mostly left turns, just stay on yellow lines can liao. :p

But one thing I definitely do is keep checking behind before turning, and what I noticed is that even without waving to signal, a decent number of drivers noticed my checking and actually yielded to me. Once on a two lane road, had a taxi sudden stop in front of me(for passenger, so typical...), quick check other lane see if clear, a VW Golf was behind, but noticed me check and slowed down for me so I can quickly go around the taxi, good guy, but of course many dicks are still present on the road -.-

Me neither. If have to travel on the road will always be on the yellow lines. Even when in a group it will be a neat single file all on the yellow lines. Sad to say I cannot say the same for other cyclists.

To me was quite close. Thankfully last min the rider realise the closeness.

The rider obviously never check mirrors until the last minute then he saw you in the mirrors. Either that or the sound of your bike made him aware of your presence.

If u change lane then no need to speed liao. :) for ur own safety too. ^^ but glad no harm came out of it.

Think most of e time as a rider, we r ahead of e traffic easily. If a car is catching up, could be just due to rushing due to some reasons. If got free space on lane 2 can just give way. then can happily travel watever spd u wan. ^^ no need to be upset by "stupid" road users who wan to tailgate. If he follow u on lane 2 then different story liao.

Then again e same could be said for e car. Y didnt e car just change to lane 2 and overtake? Well neither rider or driver change to lane 2 thus we wont ever noe.

Ps: e interesting thing about ur camera is tat can flip to front or back. How does ur mounting look like? Hope can share a pic.

The place I know of where tailgating always happens is at Tamp Ave 1. The stretch of road got two overhead bridge. Its also a school zone and speedcams are frequently deployed there. However it still does not deter drivers from tailgating speeding and changing lane abruptly without signalling. Not to forget jaywalkers too. Used to travel that stretch of road everyday home from work.

today while riding in the rain to work.

ECP towards airport is unusually packed + raining. decide not to lane split and stay behind car. bad idea. car in the front suddenly jam brake causing chain reaction down along the queue. i just applied my brakes and suddenly feel i'm losing my rear. the rear tyre began its uncontrolled fishtail going left, right, left, right. managed to gain traction without falling. phew~~

then further up along the way, just outside MBS, saw the cause of the big jam. accident involving a private bus and 3-4 bikes. couldnt see much cos i was on lane 1 and the accident was on lane 4 and 5. can make out a phantom and 2 kup kias on the floor. ambulance is already at the scene so i just continue to move on. hope its nothing serious for the riders

submitted this to the TP dept... about serious re-occurring jaywalking cases...

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Good afternoon,

As a motorist, I have encountered the above mentioned issue in the title several times as I make my way to work during the weekdays.

These problems occur at the filter lane of the junction of Upper Paya Lebar Road and Bartley Road East / Lim Teck Boo Road entrance around 0750 to 0830 as many workers make their way to the companies at Lim Teck Boo Road.

This is a serious issue as this is clearly not an isolated case and I have observed many jaywalkers walking in between cars and even buses or heavy vehicles and suddenly appearing from those gaps. As much as I can do to ride safely (motorbike), slow down at that area and keep a lookout, I can foresee very possible accidents waiting to happen.

Examples of possible cases would be:

1. An unsuspecting motorcyclist may be alarmed due to a jaywalker appearing suddenly, losing control and skidding due to last minute braking.

2. (expanded from case 1) skidding due to wet or oily ground upon last minute reaction to sudden appearance of jaywalker.

3. Injury or death to jaywalker from collision with car / lorry as heavier vehicles do not have the stopping power for these scenarios.

In the event of these possible cases, I would also like to ask whose fault will it be? If it is the jaywalker’s fault, is it possible to file charges and claim for damages against him/her?

Therefore, I beseech the traffic police issue to look into this matter as soon as possible, to prevent a VERY possible accident from happening.

Thank you.

With Regards,

Sidetrack a bit.

I have the same helmet as you.

The helmet gave me a cut when I was involved in a MINOR accident. Minor as in me/bike didn't fall on the ground. Remained upright.

Don't dare to use it anymore.

Just beware of the sharp plastic edges beside your cheeks.

I would laugh not at their misfortune but at their stupidity. I believe we were told in driving school not to look see look see when there is an accident if we are not helping. Should just concentrate on the road ahead instead.

Sadly when they passed all these throw out the window already.

I got confirmation le. Friend pass by the accident scene outside Marina Bay ECP there.

Bikes were huddled under the bridge seeking shelter from the rain. Then along came a bus and mowed them down.

Lucky no one injured.

There was once a rider parked at shoulder under a bridge and seeking shelter from the rain and got mowed down by a car. It was on the newspapers. The driver still think he did not do anything wrong. Crazy world we live in.

Maybe e driver think 1 time only. Honest mistake. Should many time then be big exciting problem. :/

Rainy days r really scary in sg. Pls be very very careful also when taking shelter at these places. I seen before while also taking shelter. A bus hit a bus tat slowed down becoz a truck in front trying to stop at road shoulder. E impact between e bus was right in front of us riders in e shelter and i could seen a lot of e riders had tat "god is on my side" look. e impact was quite large and if it was against those of us in e shelter, i think will be like bowling "strike"!!
