having been a motorist for the past decade, any biker that claims the road block prejudiced against bikers, you're too sensitive.

 

yes i kena before road block where only bikes are stopped including myself. by the same token, i oso kena before they stop only cars and then waved me off without even asking the 2 standard questions.

 

and kena stop oso wats the big deal. they ask the two standard questions, then ask me stop take off helmet, then shine torchlight all over my bike, in 3 minutes i'm back on my bike to continue my journey.

 

in any case, i happy to see road blocks. the two standard questions have obvious purpose: 1) smell for alcohol when you answer, and 2) see whether you nervous when you answer.

 

if dowan road blocks why we complain about bike thieves, joyriders and drunk drivers?

In another point of view, its infact good to have road blocks to catch errant drivers and riders like what mechwira mentioned.

 

But what I'm trying to say is since of all the cars I saw, almost all went through without getting stop, making it easier for the drivers to flout laws like driving w/o license and such. I would say 10/2 drivers will get stopped while motorcyclist 10/10.

 

Personally I have no issues of them stopping me, if rushing for time then suay lor

Yeah, agree with you. Some bikers are too sensitive. I recalled once where one guy was working on his bike an a police officer went to ask him whether is that his bike and he replied as if they didnt trust him. Just ask only what... Is like i see someone on a nice bike and ask "Bro, you bike ah?"

I guess you are not alone. About a decade ago was cycling in the wee hours to a friends place. On pavement and bicycle had lights. The road beside got roadblock then got stopped and a couple minutes done.

 

Got stopped few years ago along Loyang while riding to work. Once they saw me in my work uniform they let me pass. Asked before why bikes are stopped. Answer given was because there was a case of stolen bikes. There was once a car was speeding. Got stopped with me together at the roadblock and the car was told to park at the side and overheard the officer asking the driver if he knows how fast he was going.

If you have all the proper documents and not doing anything illegal then you should not mind roadblocks. I feel its good to have it so as to make the roads safer.

i don't look like criminal leh. i am a good samaritan. yeah they let me go after looking at my ic. one of the officer told me anyone passing by the road block has to be checked.

 

i thought this only applies to motorists, but pedestrians also check? somemore the pedestrian walkway is not just right beside the road block, its actually quite a distance from the road block.

 

oh well i am just surprised

i got stopped once, 4 dec 2008. just a turn from my house. I remembered the date is because it was really special, and how I stumped the policeman.

 

i as driving a honda civic, full of stickers, loud (but legal) exhaust, and pink pole lights. got stopped at 0100 hrs along bishan road. conversation went like this:

 

Officer: Where are you going?

Me: Home, just round this corner.

Officer: Where did you come from? (his face was really close to mine)

Me: From NTU

Officer: did you drink?

Me: No..I didnt.

Officer: Sure? (almost going to french me)

Me: Yes sir, I didnt drink

Officer: Do you know that you are not allowed to have pink colored lights?

Me: Sir, I know la, but quite nice mah..

Officer: But you know it's illegal right? I will have to book you for that.

Me: Uhm, sir (i beckoned him to come a bit closer).. sir, give chance lah..

Officer: everyone asks for that!

Me: sir, you know hor..(while shooting a glance to my then-gf), I just proposed to her in NTU where we first met, and she said YES!

Officer: *after a good 5 seconds* he extended his hand to me and said: "congratulations.. ok la, go la, go la. remember to change your bulbs ah?!?

Me: Thank you!

 

and I moved on, with my almost-to-be-wife.

Yesterday while riding, KNN in one ride, I nearly kena accident 3 times, all 3 times is car coming out of carpark lot without looking. All kena horned by me!

 

1st one was an uncle coming out, this one can understand, because I was coming from a turning lane.

2nd one was a car doing a right turn cutting across me in the carpark to illegally park, still dare to highbeam me. He lucky going to rain liao, I got no time for him.

3rd one was a lorry reversing, I think he last sec saw me and braked simultaneously as I horned him.

 

 

Upon nearing my block, got 2 c0cksters, face off head to head (Front bumper to front bumper) in the car park neither one wanting to give way to the other, holding up traffic and KNN it was about to rain I horn them and squeeze in between the 2 of them. Horning all the way.

 

KNN ... ... I seldom horn people one, today make me horny horn so many times.

Later got time then upload video.

 

Today ones are not the close shaves we encounter on the road, but also damn irritating have to brake in case they never see and keep coming.

Thank you for sharing. Clearly shows drivers do not care about riders. I always standby my finger at the horn while going in the carpark area. Obviously they always come out of their lots without checking.

That lorry driver feels that he have got the right of way just because he signalled. I regret to say that most drivers are like so hence the simultaneous signal and change lane move. What ever happened to check to see its clear even if one have signalled before changing lane? Hope the rider is alright. However I hope that the tow services do clear up the debris of the accident after the vehicles are towed. Leaving it is just creating more hazards for riders.

this was at one of SGH carpark this afternoon. the carpark was very full, with at least 3 cars (including me) hazard light on waiting for a car to move out, and a big signboard at the entrance that says 'No motorcycle parking'. and this champion takes up a car lot.

 

i've done my fair share of illegal motorbike parking, but i always try to do so in a manner that doesn inconvenience people. this super4 looks like he doesn even bother.
