hi ...just bought a old ta 150,....have been enjoying reading all the psoting.

i have not ridden a bike for a long time, and it brought fond memories of my last bike. As i was going through the ta 150, as i removed the big shiny plated sort of trapezoidal shaped cover on the left of the bike, inside it was a tube with a screw-on cap...ahoi..it was absolutely clean...was wondering what is this?? Obviously the previous owners have not been fiddling with this item...anyone out there can explain what is this??

thanks alot..

hahaa..so sorry guys wasting your time in reading this post...

I know what he means is side cover. But not sure if TA200 & TA 150 got same thing on the same side. For TA200 its air filter box. :)

Also, my engine can also hear.. "squee squee" sound like a rat when in ard 70km/hr.. siao liao rat in engine for the year of rat? :giddy:

Hi all.. very nubee here. been interesting reading the forums. like quite addicted hah..

i'm following up on this thread. i think my (i dunno which part of the bike) makes that sound too. usually its when the rev is high and i need to change gears, the "squeeeerrreeee" sound will appear and dissapear once i changed gears. but at 90km/h and i'm at 6th, the sound will sometimes come out.

also.. the "thug thug thug" sound, is it "pinking" when i'm warmin up my engine. its getting a bit worse. went to Ah Chong last week, he pointed to a part of the bike and said no need to change. but it got a bit worse leh.

comments pls.. and its very very very appreciated thank you!!

Guys, anyway to test if my fuel indicator is working without letting it run to empty? My last pump seems to last longer than usual but still no light, the indicator lights up the moment I on the bike though.. afraid to run out of petrol on the highway ahh....

just drain ur petrol into a bottle. (i hope u know which tube to pull.) then see whther ur indicator light lits.

i've read his post too, but no answer for TA150 :D

should be air filter inside for TA200, how come his bike is empty ? open pod ?

hi bro, based on my experience, "thug thug thug" sound is timing chain tenshioner wear off, only hear at warm up, cost around 50$ ++

hahahha....

some mystery :cheeky: :cheeky: :giddy: :giddy: :giddy: :giddy:

topping up?/2t? 4T?, water? oh my maybe just a misplaced item where no one uses...i mean eg if it is for topping up water in the radiator?? if this is it..this is the most troublesome to add water i will just remove radiator cap to top up rather than through this...just thinking a loud...i am sure some one out will know.

in a typical car, adding water to the radiator is through the radiator overflow tank, recommended not directly through the radiator cap...because of safety reason...

could this be it??

anyway bought this bike for leisure short distance rides..example lunch/dinner at the hawker centre......too tired to walk..tried using bicycle...but the heavy vehicles scared the **** out of me...so the bike is a good choice. ride in the centre of lane dont care who is following...hahahh

2T is on the left in front. there is a black cover. 4T is right side just behind the foot peg, also black cover. coolant input is ON the radiator. also BLACK cover.

infact replaced front folk seals and and service front brake ...replaced brake pads/pump too...and change front wheel bearings...rear bearings need to be change on next service..

but what is that thingy.....since that thingy is so clean...hahhaa..just leave it as it is....ah a real mystery....

calling all ta 150 owners..are you aware what is this??

better change soon bro, from what i have found, if timing chain tenshioner failed, the timing chain and pistons could get messy.

That's not true! If anyone's phantom got 'clong clong' sound, its the tensioner that some bros has mentioned which has to be changed!

My phantom had this problem for >6 months and I tot its ok. But when it got louder and decided to get it changed at the end of the month after getting my pay, the whole bike died on me!

When my mechanic opened up the engine, he found that the tensioner and the 2 strips(dunno what its called) that the tensioner is supporting were damaged badly. And it also affected the engine part which resulted in doing a torque overhaul which cost me >$200 when I can just change the tensioner for only $55 nia... :giddy:

Now, there's no more 'clong clong' sound at all liao! :thumb:

*above scenario happened few months back. Bike done overhauled was about 5 months back.
