if you cannot ignore it, try to tighten all the links from the carburator first. usually something along that line may be lose and cause air flow to be irregular.

irregular idle should only happen if u cool your bike for over 6 hours, or its a very cold day.

 

if the idle is so irregular that it cause your engine to die off at junctions, then u need to seek professional help coz its very dangerous.

 

if the problem is solved by increasing the idle, save your money, live with it.

 

if you cannot ignore it, try to tighten all the links from the carburator first. usually something along that line may be lose and cause air flow to be irregular.

 

if you cannot ignore it but have no idea what i'm talking about, pay Chong a visit. he fixed it quickly, at a fee.

 

 

i have never ever used the choke on my phantom. as a reference.

There is definitely a min break of 6 hrs usually b4 each start of my bike cos its purely much a transport bike to work.

 

e.g 1st start ->ecp(24km)-> work, park atleast 8 hrs, 2nd start->ecp(21km)->home. note: atleast 2 min warm up each time b4 i ride on it

 

With an increased of idle, e irregular idle doesnt cause my ta to die off at junctions. It can b obvious at times when i stop at 1st junction after exit expressway. But i guess i m jus being too paranoid being a noobie:cheeky: .

 

Thanks for e reply anyway norman. FYI, lines to carburator r inspected by myself and doc chong during my last visit for tuning. Unless there r some fine leaks that we cant detect otherwise i tot ur 1st suggestion of e ride after a long cold start cld b e culprit.

 

Anyway guys, today has been a cold day. jus did my daily start earlier. Start was smooth at my "ideal" idle setting, which gives min irregularities, :) .

 

Will monitor further.. Gum Siah..

sounds good. by the way, tightening the line to and from the carburator was taught by Chong the grandmaster. he jokingly said, come to me if u want to pay and drink kopi, or else, watch and learn.

 

i guess its all a matter of the heart to learn. common problems of phantom are easy to solve if you put in the effort to listen and apply.

my phantom have a problem kicking from gear 2 - gear 1.. it will somehow get stuck at neutral. sometimes i kick again i will hear "claaaaaaaaack" sound and stay at neutral.. got to kick quite hard again before it can be engaged to 1st gear.. is it cos

1) not much EO left?

2) i nv clutch in enough then kick?

3) nv kick hard enough?

4) gear box problem?

5) clutch plate problem?

or some other factors?

if it's time to change ur EO, try change it, easiest way to solve..

 

possible gear shaft and clutch plate spoilt..

 

(last time, my bike also difficult to kick gear 1 and 2, brought to ah chong, he took out the gear foot-pedal, demostrated with pliers that gear shaft is not smoothly moving, stuck somehow... )

my bike undergoing maintenance right now which will includes changing EO.. but would like to know the likely problem so i wont have to make another trip down to the bikeshop.. :)

this morning....kick start bike...

roar into life,and noticed headlight comes on...

hehe..i think battery dead already..yet can kick start..thats a wonderful part of kick start man....for low usage of bike kick start is the no.1 feauture. have many problems with the last piagio x9 sccooter..so the moral of the story for low usage on bike get one with kick start. heheh

hehe last time i oso kana b4 .. den i go switch off all the headlight den kickstart again is much ezier then ur batt is weak n ur headlight is on ..

with the last piagio x9....every 3 months have to recharge battery until i am sick of it.....now no such problem..

i lov my kick start....

just got my bike few days ago.. seems like i can only kick up to gear 5. it's possible to go to the motordiam and get a 6th gear or something like that right?

AgaIN ? KICK 5 times = 6 gears, kick 4 times = 5 gears

i actually dun count how many times i kick.. i just go by 'feel'.. nv drag my gears while accelerating.. so i kick until i am travelling at 100-110kmph..

just got my bike few days ago.. seems like i can only kick up to gear 5. it's possible to go to the motordiam and get a 6th gear or something like that right?

You can't just 'add' a gear. It is not possible. For your Phantom, the 6 gears are there. 1 kick down, 5 kicks up.

oh okays.. probably my mistake bah. went to koon today to do up some stuff. he tested 6 gears.. and just adjusted my clutch for me to engage gear more easily. =)

erm. my engine brake different sound. gear 1-4 same sound, gear 5 tick tick tick actually dont know how to describe those sound but gt quite alot different. any idea what happen? =)
