But there is no leakage of EO after parking overnight, then how?

I tried checking the small little window but cannot see anything, so not sure if too much or not enough.

Can I use 4T oil for EO? I thought my bike is a 2 stroke bike????

You can, but the proper stuff to use is gear oil. Don't put your 2t in the engine hor.

but for 2 stroker, when u top-up your 2T, you can put some in your fuel tank to boost performance for anyone's information

dont add 2t into your petrol tank of your ta150..

it will be a smoker ....and too much smoking the engine can also suffer like lung cancer.....all sorts of problems man...

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time:dot:

you may add A LITTLE bit of 2T into the tank to protect your 2-stroker's tank from rusting.

i dont think it will work...the petrol is going to dissolve the 2 t man...

well you may ask what about 2t in enigne and petrol in the carburetor..

the answer i think is time ,of the 2t and petrol mix is limited ..compared to in the petrol tank..

hi guys,

i read that the bike will jerk if low fuel.

but i just top up 2 days ago to full tank, and yesterday the bike was jerking!

usually i ride with fuel indicator at Reserve, but yesterday i decided to switch it to ON

in the morning i was riding in reserve mode, bike was normal, but after switching to ON, the jerks started..

is that the reason for the jerks?

not really jerk, but your throttle will not be responsive..

most probably "dirty" fuel..ie water in it...i was just proposing that we should once in a while to ride with the resevre petrol ...in order to ensure the last 1 L or so petrol is usable/clean when needed...as usual check/clean air filter. carb, if any rust/ water sediment of any sort.. present

..u found your answer to your problem

oh means got inpurities in the fuel? when you say ride with reserve petrol, does that mean to ride till tank is almost totally empty before topping up?

My problem occured suddenly. I rode in the morning (indicator at Reserve), total distance about 40km. No problem at all. Then i switch to ON and rode again in the afternoon (few hrs later). Then bike is jerky with poor trottle response.

oh btw, what if the bike is jerky when free wheeling with clutch pulled in?

Bro, how many types of oil needed for TA150?

If you sure you have more than enough fuel, then probably the ON fuel line is clogged.

what i meant was turn to reserve once in a while..not that to ride it until empty..during the ride you will use the 1L or so petrol sitting in the reserve first..so if there is any impurites sitting there ...hopefully small qty that will not effect your bike performance will be used up...(please correct me if i am wrong)..

this method will ensure that in the eventuality that you need to turn to the reserve tank..the fuel is clean and ready to use..Just imagine how often we ride until the reserve??not many time s i suppose..and all those nasty stuff sitting there ready to give u asurprise when u need it.

as to jerky during free wheeling...?? u mean the engine sound funny??rpm goes haywire? when clutch is pulled...the engine power is cut off...there shoulnt be any jerking..if rpm goes haywire..the combustion is inconsistent..check that area...if it is still jerky biting point?? check your adjustment of cable..

2T oil, 4T oil, gear oil & Engine oil ???????

actually u need 2 types onli..

1. 2T..this is mix with the petrol in the carbureetor..the 2t inlet is found next to the left side chrome cover (under/near the petrol tank)...it has a cap with some sort of spring wire across it..remove this wire and cap ..top up with 2T oil...

1L of 2T for every 400L of petrol this ratio is set at the 2t pump,..somethign like that..but just do top up.just like petrol.. top up when required..always have a bottle of 2T around, when alarm light shows up on your speedo top up as soon as u can or else engine damage will happen..

2t oil can be purchased at petrol station..mineral or synthectic type...

2. Engine Oil or EO for short, u can use 4T or special gear oil...

normal bike use 4T..okay .hey never use car eo...unless ur very sure of what u r doing..

Check your carb floats.

Dude, the answer was in my earlier post, but nvm. I'll spell it out for you again.

TA150 = 2 Stroker = 2T + Gear oil

TA200 = 4 Stroker = 4T

A lot of people substitute gear oil with 4T when riding 2 strokers like ur fren mepkoh here. It is an acceptable substitute, but gear oil works better.

ya..use 4T..because a chong does the eo...never says anything to him..any way first time mah ..so never ask question...ended up with 4T...

any way wahts the diff between 4t and gear oil??? if the diff is of any significance i am very sure a chong will not risk his reputtation on this..IMHO..

i will change to gear oil at the next change,,but dont know what spec to call for??for EO like 20w50...any ratings for gear oil..

Dear Mepkoh,

Thks very much for the info.

The reason why I recommend gear oil over 4T is the specificity. Gear oil is specifically for lubricating the bottom half of your engine (eg clutch n gears) whereas 4T lubes the entire engine. Both will do the job since 4T does lube gears in 4 strokers as well...but if you can get something more specific to your needs, why use something generic?

As for rating, I don't really know. I only discovered gear oil after I stopped riding 2 strokers...so I've been on 4T for my 2 stroke riding phrase as well. But from what my friends tell me, gear oil feels smoother and lasts slightly longer. Not speaking from personal experience though...

if i remember correctly from a seminar on lubricants....2 strokers EO is different in respect to the inclusion combustion products .

In another words , the EO has to be blended to take that into considerations..

will gear oil do the job???

Combustion products? Think of it this way. For 4 strokers, 4T lubricates both the top and bottom of the engine. For 2 strokers, 2T lubricates the top...so you only need lubricant for the bottom half of the engine, which houses the clutch, gears etc where there is no combustion. That's why the oil for 2 strokers is called gear oil, because it only lubricates the gears. Why won't it do the job?

if you look at the 2 stroker intake/compression/combustion/exhaust cycle..they overlap..there is high possibly inclusion of combustion products into the crank case....2 strokers combustion chambers are not really air tight to the crank case (as compared to the 4 strokes engine by means of the piston rings/cylinder wall)..i suggest that you take alook at the standard design of the 2 stroke engine. to understand what i am refering to..so these overlaps may have a tiny % of these combustion products added to the Engine oil....

thats the main diff...i suppose. thats why gear oil is diff from transmission oil??? basically gear oil and trans mission oil the same with the exception of additives to take care of the inclusions. IMHO..maybe i should ask is the gear oil with a 5km oil change to 4t 2km oil change has a large $$$ advantages..
