[Archived - 2009] PK Official- Questions for Newbie

Newbie question:

I notice most ppl here use chain sprays, or some ppl said use engine oil for chain lub is the best.

So can i use Singer Oil for chain lub? Coz i rem Ah Koon saying any type of oil also can.

Also, am i suppose to clean the chain 1st before lubricating? Wat's the procedure?

Thx.

The Velocity and heat tolerance level are different.

Use a proper chain lubricant or you can use used engine oil as replacement.

Lubricating the chain are to keep it from excessive friction grinding on the sprockets itself.

Encourgaed to keep it clean from sands/dust.

You can do so by using kerosene to clean your chain, when nessasary.

Its not dangerous at all if u follow the safety rules of bike riding.

This is WRONG. Riding IS INHERENTLY DANGEROUS

Its the rider's experience, skill & alertness that will keep him out of trouble most times, but even then sh!t can happen anytime & anyplace....

Nobody can guarantee your safety just because you follow the "safety rules"

hey new-b.

i just previously sold off my TA150.

Before the private buyer, i was going around asking many bikeshops all over the nation how much they want my bike for. Interestingly, none of them wanted the TA150 model anymore.

When private buyers viewed my bike, most of the many quoted me less than 1K. Gets me a lil pissed as i got it for 1.4K. After 2 months of advertising, i accepted an offer more than the average amount i was quoted. Surely will lose one.

Like to check with all the experience rider, is there anyway to appeal for summon?

I was parking on the double yellow line with a parking coupon at harbour front the hawker center carpark. And that got me the ticket. I know it is not right to park there but the thing is I parked there because all the lots are taken up and I need to go to work. Not only is the car park full, the other one beside it also full. In this kind of situation is there any room to appeal?

I AM BACK!!!!!

There is always chance to appeal...

I even appeal for cases that i know im in the wrong and there is possibly no way for me to get away with it. A little waive to the fine is still a waive!

Just write or type them a letter and explain the situation youre in, see if they show any leniency. Last resort, perhaps you might want to say it's just an urgent call for the toilet.

Hmm.. Somethin to ask.. Been browsing the forum but still can't get my answer..

Izzit realli necessary to do the so called regular servicing? Like carb wash, jetting of brakes etc.. And if yes, where can I find them other ah koon? I'm sure there r other shops in sg tat can do the servicing..

Another thing is since my bike is new, does it mean tat if the bike doesn't show any signs of trouble, I'll juz change my spark plug, Engine Oil and lube my chain? Or do I nd to go for some sort of maintenance thing?

Thanks..

Engine Oil is a long long long long neverending debate of "which is better".

Nobody is right & nobody is wrong; its just which school of thought & logic do you subscribe to.

For the usual layman, just use what you are comfortable with & willing to pay for.
