is it recommended to go to JB to get parts for a CBR150? my friend told me the prices half of local prices... looking at changing my brake pads, exhaust, footrest and maybe general servicing...

Half price is half price.... but not stock parts.

And the possibility of getting shot, stabbed, robbed and raped? Priceless..

no plans. i'm now on half tank.

Same here.... i reluctant to go in JB during festive period for the reasons mentioned above.

Shaun, can you do some research about the 50% xiao long bao?

i can't seem to find concrete sources. all the info was from people's experiences.

50%? oh no, not that. Its free flow xiao long bao, not 50% discount.

I have not been there myself either, its only from word of mouth also that i got to know abt this, and how its only available at the holland v outlet!

Don: is that so? Omg thanks for sharing that? So where do we go to opt in or out etc?? Any idea???

yr fren probably rides other model of motorbike?

original spare parts for cbr150 are not common in JB.

out of the few items u listed, maybe only the below is available:

footrest - racing footrest for NSR150 SO fits our bike & is readily available in JB, or if u intend to stick to original setup, u can get more fanciful looking footrests to replace the stock rubbers.

general servicing - engine oil & spark plug & tyres (thailand made)

those on old OPC scheme will continue to remain on old scheme unless u opt in for the new enhanced scheme. admin charge of $100 applies & u prolly need to topup on road tax to be paid.

Hi guys, i have one more question to ask before i buy a cbr150r to join u guys.

How much is it to overhaul and when to overhaul? 50,000km? 100,000km?

The day i quit riding,

Is when those whom I love,

Cry every time I get on my motorcycle.

i think the price depends on extent of parts which need to be replaced when they open the engine..

top overhaul (i heard la) is 150+ but if replace other worn parts probably reach 400+..

when to overhaul again must see the bike..past 80k-100k or more km, it might be time to see ur mech and ask for his opinion if u can hear the piston rattling inside/ got alot of white smoke/ its performance has dropped way past a satisfactory level, etc :p

baby, u're my love..

Hi guys, need your opinions about gettin the cbr150 or nsr150 for my first bike... Very torn between which to get... On one hand the cbr is newer, has 4 stroke goodness and will have resale value in the future (hopefully)... However my friends at work have advised me against this bike saying it has no power and too skinny so when I ride will look awkward... They recommend me To get a Sp instead...

So guys, would appreciate your opinions on the matter... Budgetwise I calculated both will cost me abt the same upfront for mahine and insurance... Looking to buy the bike for transportation purpose and to tahan till class 2...

Thanks for your input...

Cheap + fast = no good

Cheap + good = not fast

Good + fast = not cheap

no power? then you need to test ride Midzi's bike.

we don't outrun KRR's at 180 unless they give us the finger. or out-squeez SP's in traffic jams. neither do we rev rev at traffic lights just to have our slipper fall off. or topup petrol every 200-300 km. or worry about 2T issues.

The age alone of current SPs should be enough to worry u. The older the 2T bike, the more problems u would have. For transport u say? Then wouldnt u want to juice a cbr150 for an average of 42km/L?

it depends on what ur looking for..speed versus economy..does what ur frens say matter alot to u? or do u prefer to choose ur own bike by urself?

sp is fast but also drinks twice as much fuel as cbr..maintenance higher, kick-start and prone to piston jams..

its powerful but old, take note that many possibly have been abused/modded by previous owners..

if u do decide to pick this, please check thoroughly to make sure the engine is in good condition! :thumb: same with any other 2nd hand bike..! :)

cbr is more of a commuter's bike..speed and acceleration is decent, top end is lacking compared to sp, but imo enuff to get around without much worries..

maintenance 1L eo + spark plug..electric start, low probability of piston jam, top speed only 150 kmh but how fast can u go in sg? unless maybe u frequent NSH? :p

the choice is urs..may u get ur beloved bike soon! :D

baby, u're my love..

51km/l was the highest i ever hit.

until i found out how fast we can go if we drag every gear.
