hmm same colour thats true..underseat also chock full with barang..wonder if any slimmer bottle available

btw can request for the bottle to be pre-drilled? then what about the gasket glue/rubber washer thingy we must buy ourself?

no worries my dear, everything is pre drilled and gasket applied.... you just have to do the easy part, installation on your bike.

this bottle is the most durable one that we can find... the rest either disintegrate or split apart, spilling oil all over the rear tyre.... and that's....... not good at all.

once again guys happy new year and hope all of you had a fun valentines day....

if i buy a bike from a private seller, is it advisable to send it for full servicing? or just change oil and spark plugs? want to make sure the bike is in safe riding condition when i start riding it la....

Happy new year rock. It is advisable to bring the bike to a bike shop that both of you agree on.... let the mechanic check, and get the seller to pay for the service, change engine oil, spark plugs, and maybe coolant ($10-$20 la... if he make noise about paying this, it should tell u about how he took care of his bike).

and this OWS package http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=224278

Are they any good? thinking of OWS900 fully syn oil.

and yes, since we're on the topic of chains and i'm noob, how often i need to oil or lube it?

Unique is a reputable motorshop with costs clearly stated in a friendly manner. Their pricing is also almost competitive but not the lowest. I would go for a semi-synthetic package if i were you. Reasonably smooth performance for a reasonable price.

Stay tuned for my write up on our CBR150 chain....

Hi guys just to share with you all a good DIY product that i have been using recently. Its the homemade chain oiler by tonychan! I managed to ask him if he could help to do the same for our CBR150 community and he kindly consented.

Personally i felt sick and tired of the hassle that came with lubricating the chain. The messy sticky lube lah... Need to jack the bike up to spin the wheel and sprocket... Have to keep lubing the chain during long journeys...

Until i saw one of these sweet contraptions on tony's bike, i had him do one for me and so far i am very satisfied with it!

The purpose of lubricating a chain is the same as lubricating anything. To reduce friction and hence reducing power loss.

Reduced friction also means that the amount of wear is reduced. Hence the chain will last longer.

However, the key word is reduced wear, not an elimination of chain wear. The chain will still wear out over time. Chain wear is largely depended on the rider's riding style. However, it is safe to change chains every 10,000km.

Now there is little debate over should you lube or not. You SHOULD.

But the discussion is largely over what is the best way to lube the chain. Some people use teflon, some people use margarine...:faint:

Rock on beautiful people!

stanley u really blur or act blur?

I'm a new and proud owner of a 2nd hand (6 yrs, FV plate) CBR 150R. Had it for about 3 months now and it's about time for my first oil change.

Been reading some of the more recent posts about engine overhaul and all. Thought I asked some questions before I send it back to Heng Motor for service and oil change, so i don't get conned by them.

1. Total mileage is now around 93k and FC at about 35km/l. I don't know if an overhaul has been done before. What are some things I need to look out for to tell me it's time for an overhaul?

2. Is there a preferred brand of engine oil to use, or just any oil that the workshop provides? Heard that it makes better sense to use fully synthetic that lasts 5k so I can do EO and spark plug change at the same time. Also, do any of your DIY? is it easy to DIY oil change?

3. How often should I change the tyres? My cousin who rode SP said about 6-9 months change tyres.

4. Which workshop is recommended for CBR servicing? Heng Motor claims to have all the parts, and it's where I bought my bike from. Just wondering if there are better places to do servicing and oil change.

Anyway, looking forward to join the fraternity of CBR150 riders. It's 3 months and i'm loving my ride.

heng motor...... hmmmm do u live in jurong?

the oiler setup looks alright.

maybe can have the bottle hidden behind e pillion footrest instead? secure w/ velco strap or smth that is easily removable instead of cable tie?

run the tubes frm the inside of swingarm instead of outside?

saw tony's thread on electric oiler w/ dual oiling tubes.

that one looks more promising leh. the correct chain lubricating is to have both sides of chain lube mah.

hm..the description of their cheapest package $12, not so transparent. oils in their other packages have got specific model spelt out, but not this one. so im going to guess it's mineral grade castrol oil rather than power1 semi-syn or full-syn.

just a quick comparison of prices for DIY if u were to buy items from LAB:

castrol semi-synthetic - $8/9

ngk plug platinum fine tip - $6

total cost $14/15.
