i'm don't really know which bike to choose .....

but can only get 1 ....

love the style of hornet :lovestruck:

like the price of S4:cheeky:

definitely the s4 pal! realiability, power, handling, posture all goes to the s4. as for outlook i prefer the s4 also.. you will get sick of the hornet power after a while, its always so high rev-ed ride le very sian like the engine very siong like that...as far as i know i think at least you won't regret if you get the s4 but if you get the hornet there are chances you might regret loh... after all its your choice lah! good luck!:goodluck: :goodluck: :thumb:

I wld only agree on power...as its 400cc n has vtec tecnology. I rode the Spec 1 last time at ssdc during my 2A n a few times my friends S4s i totaly dun like the handling n posture, suspension is too soft and the handle bar is neither low like a sports bike nor high like a fazer. Prefer hornet. But ya its only 250cc so...dun expect much of power from this bike. S4 for 400cc is quite ok on consumption even the vtec models.

Oh ya...since S4 is so common the parts are relatively cheaper n easy to find. n Of cos resale value for S4 is there.

Hornet 250cc is using the same chassis frame as its bigger brother, the 600. As such, tire size and sproket size remains unchange except for a lower cc engine.

Therefore, you'd have to fork out more during this replacement.

Also, S4 can fetch a far better value and also retain its resale value and relatively, easier to sell as compared to a Hornet.

There is no replacement for displacement.

One is 400cc. The other is 250cc.

4 stroke and 250cc, u might as well buy a Phantom, right?

Also 4 stroke and 200cc, and way cheaper.

But if u like the styling and can forgo the fact, then ok...

I rode hornet 250 for 3 mths then sold off cos, tip toes quite jia lat. Like the outlook and the lighter weight than S4.

I've ridden both bikes. The hornet250's light and flicky, and the super4s just totally reliable. Just get either, wouldn't be much of a regret one way or the other. Can't really agree with the 250cc vs 400cc big-difference camp, since we have any number of 250 hornets who've out-performed the s4, and since the bike is using a sport-tuned hi-rev 4-stroke, it's hardly in the same category as the TA200. And anyway, i think you'll pay less road-tax for a 250cc. Why don't you actually get some backside-time on both bikes to try the difference?

Frankly, I faced your problem, but with regard to the class 2 versions: Hornet900 vs CB1300. I went for the Hornet9.

Hornet 900 vs CB1300 is almost a no-brainer for me. I'd choose the Hornet! :D (That said, I am riding a SV650 and prefer the torquey twin to the Hornet 600.)

The problem the thread starter is facing is not just styling, power and handling, but also resale value. He is likely to upgrade to class 2 not far in the future, and the S4 is definitely easier to sell.

Therefore, although I like the fun, high-revving Hornet, for the sake of easy upgrade, I recommend the S4.

i faced the same situation when i juz got my 2a too..

when comparing the 2 bikes.. there is juz onli one naggin prob.. 400cc vs 250cc.. most ppl wld think a 400 wld overpower the 250 hands down..

the truth is.. when ridden skillfully.. the hornet can keep up wif a super4 in a drag race and go round a track like PG even faster then a super4..

resale value of a super4 is definitely better then a hornet.. but i feel a super4 is overpriced generally becos of its demand..

in regards to stylin.. its juz too bad the hornet did not receive any update in its outlook since its appearance in 1996.. even so it has a more radical outlook then a super4 which is juz plain typical in styling..

in the end i choose a hornet.. cos i like it..

The Super4 was never one my mind. Too common... too stiff... too uncouth... I grabbed the first Hornet 250 i could find and stuck with it for coming 2 years now.

Rode a VTEC2 as a subrider for a friend and really found a huge difference in the agility. The S4 was fighting me at the bends while the hornet asked for more. Take both on a ride to PG and test it out.

Before getting my hornet, Im riding Phantom. Everywhere I goes, it is so common that you can see newbie, uncle, basically every 2b bike is phantom.

Then when I get my 2a, super 4 was there. It's so good that it's so common.

Nowaday, whenever I saw another hornet on the road, a bond is created naturally & we will nod at each other. Try that on a super 4.

Based on its mono shock, when banking, it give u the confidence that how much lower it can go. (But I DUN recommend it)

Due to its high rev, pulling off at traffic light is faster, engine sound smoother with its low humming.

Juz my 2 cents.

hornet rocks!!!.. wher to get a monoshock, underseat pipe, inline4 250cc 4 stroke, gd consumption, cheaper road tax n insurance, motorboat sound bike?? hornet 250!!! .. my fren's cousin's hornet250 sound like a 1000cc bike as he 'tong' the pipe. well, i would put my money on hornet as it is more a styling n handling bike.. it value doesnt reali drop tt jia lat, n it can be use as a side bike as maintenance not tt siong.. juz my 2cent
