Taxi drivers and bus drivers are people too...just like bikers...got good, got bad...

we singaporeans like to complain...write letters against drivers/riders of bus company, taxi company, courier companay, KFC, McDonald, Pizzahut....

what about private vehicles? complain to who? LTA? report police?

DO. Or DO NOT. There is no TRY.

Wrong. It should be Traffice Police.

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB

Sometimes its not that ppl like to complain but sometimes those incidents can really get to you. Esp when its just a fraction to an accident for their reckless drving style.

does i time, 2 time of bad riding/driving make it a "style"?

my point is we are all human, once in a while sure to make some stupid mistakes. Who hasn't encountered reckless driving/riding right? It's just that taxi drivers are more "noticeable". i've encountered a few myself, and sure i was pissed. but it never crossed my mind to take down anyone's plate no and write a complain letter b4.

DO. Or DO NOT. There is no TRY.

btw, isn't it true that the traffic police would not get involved in accident disputes if there's no casualty or damage to public properties, just let the involved parties settle themselves right?

so will TP take action against the reckless private driver/rider if they receive a complain letter? anyone kena before? :p

i also hear they wont get involve in such things, but even if got casualty, they also wont involve, unless got evidence, they usually put an accident plate on the road. :dot:

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

i only know wat i experienced before....kena fined $200 after i langga into a car during morning rush hour on PIE in 1994...claim my own 1st party insurance to repair bike, had to pay excess 300+ ( total repair cost $3000+)...plus medical pay myself for broken collar bone. The car only bumper dented. dunno she got claim against me anot....

anyways, i dun think there was no damage to public properties but probabaly did cause further congestion and "inconvenience" to other road users.

at the end of the day, it doesn't pay to be reckless...suffered injury, spend on repairs and medical, and kena fine somemore....no sympathy at all .....

DO. Or DO NOT. There is no TRY.

Ya i agree wit u. Thats why no matter wat they do on the road, i never used my horn before. Haha.. but hey.. u said ONCE IN a while.. Its not like that.. ITS ALL THE TIME ok. aND NOT all taxi drivers but 99% of them...There was once one taxi driver knock me from the side before moving off to turn right...i dun wan share d whole story but he was at fault.. but when he got down of the taxi to see i was injured.. first thing he said was.. he shouted "I thought U Wanna move off" .. HOW RUDE~! He was at fault and yet got d cheek to scold me.. If i had hit his taxi just a bit..IM sure he will claim one hell of an amount from me.. but of coz i let him go coz its a old man n i wasnt in d mood to argue coz my legs were bleeding n i was in pain.. :thumb:

Yes, most of the time u just get their generic macro reply to the effect of "we will investigate or look into the matter" READ "admin clerk puts it in a file and all is forgotten".

You can also call the taxi co directly if during office hours.

CC the letter to TP if there is some provable traffic offence. Also if TP wanna take action they will first contact you if u willing to testify against the taxi.

do you mean you've witnessed firsthand, the reckless driving of 99% of all the taxi drivers in the country? :p but i do understand your bias since you did have a unpleasant encounter with a taxi driver ( some human beings are like that, when bad things happen first thing they do is deny reponsibility by blaming the other party...esapecially if their ricebowl at stake...it's a human defect, not taxi-driver defect )

personally, i've had alot more near-misses with private vehicles than taxiis.

Whats the point of trying to save ur ricebowl, when in the process of doing that, u are careless & meet with an accident.. and ur license is gone? esp fatal accidents whereby u knock down bikers? So ur profession is totally gone. Is that how u work for ur ricebowl? WE can understand ur sense of urgence.. but .. everyone on the road is in a rush to go sumwher.. but at d same time we have to be courteous and be safe... no point rushing.. meet with accident.. and d process of recovering frm the accident takes longer eventually. wasted rite.

puts it in a file and all is forgotten".

isn't that what happens to the pissed-off feeling you (generic) get that made you (generic) write that complain letter in the first place.....all forgotten?

of cos, i'm not suggesting you (generic) take immediate action by getting physical, kicking his car door, banging his car window, etc....that's road rage and may very well lead to greater regret.

This avenue of writing a complain letter to vent anger/frustration, and subsequent delay in reply/action....only serves to allow time for "cooling off"...then it becomes a non-issue.

so next time you (generic) get into a near-miss with a reckless driver...taxi ot otherwise...remember, he only gave you a scare, no damages no fractures no real harm done. Be thankful...not vengeful :)

Someone once told me in this forum... "Ultimately the road is not a place for silly pride and childish rage. If a situation is not to your advantage, you simply move out and move on".

I try to live ** to that advice and example...

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

Words of wisdom from a true biker.

The longevity of a biker is dependent on how well one can abide by such principles.

i'm sure almost everyone knows this chinese saying: DUO ZHUO DUO CHUO, SAO ZHUO SAO CHUO, BU ZHUO JUI MEI CHUO. ( do alot fault alot, do little fault little, dun do then no fault )

Cabbies spend more time on-the-road in a day than most of us in a week. Many are 'seniors'...some start at dawn, change shift just before dusk...some may do double shift. and lets have a show of hands here...who actually aspires to drive taxi?

Most of us are leisure riders/drivers...to and from school, work or play...when we speed its becos we want/need to...when we are on the road it is usually something enjoyable...we mostly travel along familiar routes...noone in the back seat telling us to go faster cos we are desperately late or whether we need to suddenly turn left here or turn right there...we miss an exit just u-turn or something to get back on track...noone to give you a dirty look in the rear view mirror like you're trying to prolong the trip and ketok their $$$...keeping an eye on the road is tough enough plus looking out for passengers to pick **...

i guess thats why it is general knowledge that taxiis are to be avoided and never followed closely...but never feared or scorned.

DO. Or DO NOT. There is no TRY.

Do it the other way around: Send the letter to the Traffic Police, cc the taxi company. Even better if you cc to the media too.

Whether it's private vehicle or company vehicle (eg taxi, delivery), if the issue is that they are endangering other road users, TP should be informed. With this case of taxi driver, it is likely that the TP will give you some stock answer, or ignore you altogether. Unless you have video evidence or something.

Taxi companies are likely to ignore complains from other road users. The reasoning is simple: not their core concern. Their main business is passengers INSIDE their cabs. It's not like the rest of us pay their fares thus they have to sit ** and take notice. If the passenger complains, ah, that's a different matter to them altogether. A Merc cabbie lost his job because of my complain before, but that's a story for another time. Not something I'm particularly proud of, considering rice bowls, blah blah blah.

For us, the best chance they will take action is if the TP (or any other relevant authority) first takes action, then they'll start shaking doing something about the issue.

gov.com, lawyer.com & finance.com will only help on those rich & powerful ppl.

in this reality, u don't have S11 or power then u r nothing.

Complaint to or againts any 1 is useless. pay more attention while on the road. predict WTF the front or coming from side road ducker is going to do. As i hv said, if any unhappy thingy happen, riders will be in disadvantage position. Coz riders always = poor ppl that no $ to buy luxury car.

Well, talking about reckless taxi drivers... I live and let live with plain recklessness... but some taxi drivers are not only reckless, they are rude to boot.

Last week, I was riding in the slowest lane looking to turn left 15m down the road. There was this taxi who just drop off a customer in a bus bay and was recklessly trying to force me to give way to him( by jutting suddenly out) when the road wasn't busy and no vehicle behind me for like 10m at least. I horned him and he stopped but HORNED back at me?

I was like what the ****... 1st you stop where you ain't s**posed to stop( in a bus bay) and then you expect a vehicle going straight to give way to you when you can just wait 2-3s and then after I pass then come out right? And when I refuse to let you bully me into giving way... you horn like I was at fault?

Don't take me wrong about giving way... I always give way to vehicles in difficult situations( like a turn coming ** and you desperately need to change lanes... or the traffic conditions make it hard for you to get out of where you were.) but I refuse to be bullied( he can just wait like he was taught in driving school). As it was in this case, I took the risk that he would still try to move out as I was ready to reduce the impact of a collusion so that if he still behave like the king of the road, then he will pay the price for it( I figure that was why he horned at me... I no respect for the emperor of the road he must have thought).

But then if there was a chance of serious injury... I would rather be bullied.
