I strongly suggest that you avoid Jack's if you want good steak.

For value for money, I've two recommendations:

1. Phin's Steakhouse at Liang Seah Street:

morton's and lawry's are the best IMO..... best steakhouse, fine dining ambience, highend bills too.....

a piece of ribeye steak, just the steak w/o vege or potato will set u back at $75+++. if wan to add vege as side dish, will cost $15++, gratin/poach/mash/baked potato will cost around another $10+++.....

Never been to Morton's but i certainly heard of it's reputation for great steak.

Lawry's is nice too, thought it's not steak but prime roast beef.

Just Steak at River Walk has good steak. Set meal will set you back from 69+++ onwards. I've been there it's pretty good.

Honestly though, a good steak pretty easy to do on your own. Just go to a good butcher to get a good cut. I normally go to Swiss Butchery at Bt Timah or the Espirito Santo at Thompson Rd. 300grams is more than enough for ave guy, 250 for girls. A good rib eye will be about 3.50 to 4.50, which only amounts to $13.50 max per steak.

Slap it on the pan at high heat for 2 to 4 min per side depending on the doneness you want, and viola you got yourself a bad ass steak!

For sauce, you can get the marinated steaks, and add wine to the leftover marinades and other ingredients (you gotta experiment), to get a great sauce.

The only i can't do at home is fries, so i normally do mashed patatoes.

oh..... i see...........

Ok, then Just Steak would be my recommendation. The Grill on Devonshire used to server good stuff as well, but i'm not sure if they still do.

Elsewise, you can come over to my place for a $40 rib eye (special price for u)!!! hahaha....:cheeky:

would be great if u can do a red-wine reduction mushroom sauce.....

oil and shallots pan fry, add in button mushrooms to stir fry, then pour in some red wine to reduce to half its content, then add in the brown sauce and cook.....

can thicken the sauce with a little corn starch or tapioca flour.....
