I'm not a salesman for Icon. All I'm saying is, if I have to crash, I want to be wearing one of these. Which is why I own them. Don't take my word for it.

P.S. I have no fingerprints on one finger, so I take gloves very seriously.

Sounds gd to me... always wanted to get a pair ever since i saw it. fell in love with the hooligan gloves immediately, love at 1st sight you might say......but the pricing has deterred me from buying(shipping can be so darn expensive)....*sobs* can oni settle for other gloves...

It takes a fall to get people to wake up their idea..... Some take more than one fall to learn, some don't even survive their 1st to learn....

Don't end up like the last one...

For Me if i riding on a big bike to a long distance i will put on a pair of gloves. If lik going near by to buy something wif a smaller bike, do u need to put on a gloves den u wearing a t shirt and short going down to eating or get something u need. U tink is it looks funny? Gloves must wear see the timing. Stay Cool & Play smart.

I'd just like to point out that since there are so many kinds of gloves out there, it's likely you'll eventually find one that is both safe and comfortable. Don't be put off if the first pair you try doesn't feel right. Keep trying when you go to different shops; quite fun what!

All gloves also take some time to season. The thicker and more armour it has, the longer it will take. If you buy a pair of gloves and you put it aside to collect dust because it feels a bit tight or the armour cuts into your hands, then you're missing the chance for it to change to fit your hands after a few days/weeks.

I guess some people really enjoy the feeling of wind whacking their hands at high speed. I really don't. And you don't have to sacrifice convenience if you choose the right pair of gloves. No need to buy long track gloves that are so thick you can barely move your fingers lah. Full-fingered up to your wrist can already. I rarely take off my full-fingered gloves even at petrol stations; it's all about finding the right fit and then seasoning properly.

By the way, for those who feel palm protection is important, I recommend checking out the OGK gloves that Regina sells (only 1 model). It's the only pair of gloves I've seen that has carbon fiber plates at the lower palm area, where you would likely slide on in an accident.

Oh yah, for me, don't care my scrambler, my sports bike, pillioning, cruiser or scooter, gloves all the way! Not just safe - seriously very comfortable lah. People who laugh are just making themselves look and sound very stupid. When riding in traffic, is there a significant difference in risk for a Wave rider and a Hayabusa rider? I don't think so. Come on lah, buang is buang.

Just an experience i had tat made me notice da impt of gloves....

In da year 1998, during Deepavali, I had an crash on a bicycle. Its juz a low speed crash at abt 50kmh from speeding dwn a hill from Old Upper Thomson Rd towards Upper Thomson Rd. I gez u guys know the one near Upper Pierce Reservoir. Neway, was going dwnhill wif my fren n didnt realise there gravel at da bend towards da main road. Im going too fast thus my rear wheel skid n fish-tailed when I brake and so my bike slide thru. My right knee and right hand drag da ground for abt 5 - 8m to a stop. Luckily didnt hit da main rd, if nt I wont b here.

End results, I gt a serious abrasion on my knee which gt infected n took 3 mths to heal while my Fox Pawtector, no harm to it, protects my hand. At least I limp bt still can write (right handed) to complete my O's. The scar still remains on my knee till now. Its terrible sight after da crash. Can see da blood ooze from da pores.

Neway, we still continue wif da ride n became an attraction at Singapore Zoo during our meal break.

Moral of da story: Always wear a glove while riding....:thumb:

Doesn't matter what you ride... any bike can go fast enough to make your bone come through your skin if you crash. I think you have the right attitude.

Almost every rider I know who crashed without gloves remarked that there was some damage to the hands... some minor (chipped fingernail etc), some major... somehow the hands always kena... even on case the hand landed on the exhaust pipe....

yeah tats why i don give a damn to their remarks. Cos when buang... first will use hand or rather palm to block n resist the impact from the tarmac. Buang liao... maybe cant move properly already... n yet palm injured cant touch water n wash face etc etc.... very hard time one leh.

SO guys... Get a pair of gloves...

FYI CivicR, my gloves are bought at Motoworld. cost me only barely 50bucks. So why not? N its a full gloves... hopefully u got it liao n ppl ard u wont give u stupid remarks. Cos i've got many stupid remarks from frens... saying " wah racer ar!!!"

hahahaa

My friends used to laugh at me also. All I had to do is to point to my scars from my accident last time, and say, "would you rather wear gloves or have more of this?"

From your description, seems like you are refering to the Komine Mesh Gloves, I owned that pair since I started riding and till now everyday wore it everyday. Some ppl I know asked me sometimes, "Aiya so near, still wear gloves?" but I ignored.

I skidded once myself and hand auto came out to block, it protected me so I know it's impt.

:btw: Motorworld is at Kaki Bukit Rd 1, inside a industrial building. :goodluck:

Hi Guys,

Any good/decent gloves will do the work, not neccessary to be titanium or other expensive gloves materials, as long as there are a thick padding at the right places knuckles, lower palm, rear of the hand...

I carry 2 pairs of gloves in my bike, a full length another short lenght up to wrist, on a very hot day or a short distance ride I use the short gloves other then that full gloves for long distance, M'sia or to work...

I've been through serious accident before, bike scrape- but I was wearing gloves and other protective clothing/gears ,FF helmet- where it saves alot of skin and flesh.

This protective equipments cannot help you 100%...Impacts and abrassions is there no open/expose wounds - but it helps you to a certain degrees to live and talk about it...and still looking handsome.

Wear the sramb gloves - can buy $40-upwards from a lot of different shops, MotoWorld, LAB, Regina, Profile, ChiapLee, Aunty

Could also wear the fingerlss scramb gloves

And if budget really tight, then thhe workman gloves from NTUC or any hardware shop, less than $10.

All better than wearing no gloves.
