My engine stalls occassionally when I shut my throttle completely while leaving the engine idle with the clutch engaged when waiting for green traffic light or preparing to slow down.

I think there is some adjustment that can be made to increase the supply of of fuel so that the engine won't die off (I can hear that the engine sound is weakened - near die off, until I turn up the throttle again).

Appreciate your advice please. Thanks in advance.

just get someone who knows more about the model of your bike then you do to make some minor adjustments to the idle. most probably it can be tuned by turning a little piece of thing that looks like it has a minus screw sign near the engine area. (correct me if i'm wrong at the positioning.)

U can try to increase da timing by adjusting da screw at ur carburetor.

This happens after my bike was sent for servicing - including caburetor cleaning. the timing could have been touched.

if i can ask a stupid question - where exactly is the caburetor?

Everyone has their first time, no need to feel stupid. I am not sure of your bike, but you can look up the internet for carburetor. you dun need the exact model of the carb. Just find some pics on carb and look for something similar near your engine.

Usually your throttle is linked to the carb. So locate your carb, while looking at your carb twist the throttle (engine need not be on). Something should move. Usually just be observing how the thing move, you should be able to tell how to adjust the idle speed. Usually it is just turning a screw that is on the mechanism that moves when you twist the throttle.

Hope this help you. This is how I changed my idle speed on my bike (my bike is not the same as yours, so u gotta to explore your on bike). :)

trying to avoid going back to the same shop - charged me $139 for regular servicing, which I thought was quite expensive.

if it is a simple tweak, I rather learn from the gurus here instead of sounding ignorant and kanna chop.

btw, my bike is 2nd hand and doesn't come with manual.

Not everyone knows da parts on their bike so dont feel inferior aite. Obviously they will meddle with ur timing since u claim dat u sent it for servicing which includes d cleaning of d carb. Its situated sumwhere under ur fuel tank which is ard d engine area. Its juz rite beside d piston block.

$139 for a regular servicing if it includes 3 btls of gd grade engine oil, oil filter, and 4pcs of spark plugs is considered reasonable. Not everything here can be learnt dat easily, u nid some pics and maybe some guide to really learnt bout d engine stuff.

Thank you to all of you!! Found the throttle timing adjustment knob by using the above method (observe the moving part when turning the throttle). I've also adjusted the timing, and seems much better now.

Hi just to clarify, its actaully not timing per say but the 'idle speed' , i believe turning the screw raises the throttle slide to allow more air in & thus higher idle speed. for idle adjustment, its usually yr 'airscrew' and 'pilot jet' that adjusts the fuel/air mixture to give the smoothest idle at the recommneded speed. Thks !
