Depends on your bike.

If your bike is very new,

eg: 2 year old bike, stock condition.

Then yes, it is worth it, because the insurance will compensate the market value. :)

If your bike is old but "Zhng" alot of things,

eg: 9 year old bike, but just overhauled new piston, new wide handle bars, Big tank cover, added 3 boxes, alien headlight, speakers ... .... ....

Then not worth it, because the insurance only compensate market value, not sure if it gives you even a thousand dollars. Because after market parts are not factored in. :(

In this case might as well chain up your bike and hope nobody sets fire or steal it for the next 2 years then the extra money saved from insurance can be saved and used if (touchwood) anything unfortunate happens to the bike.

Depends on how much you bought the bike and your estate.

Like i bought the bike 5th hand for 1450 and my neighbourhood is very safe...so there is no way i am going to pay more then $500 for fire/theft wat...almost half the price of my bike purchase lol

hmm oh okay cool thanks a lot for the advice, i bought 2nd hand custom 4 ed from shop, 3.8k machine price, but recent valuation i heard drop below 3 already, completely stock still in pristine condition i might add. =()

Will consider your inputs got till sept 14 =P and my estate also relatively safe, i mean these kind of things never know when will happen, but i thinking probability like relatively low, and since can save why not safe. =)

Safety? I used to stay in a condo and got resident steal petrol from my Phantom.

Dumb@$$ got caught the very next day cos I informed security & they ambushed the fella. The dude rides an RXZ & is probably the only other bike that parks in the same place as me... he probably thought I wouldn't notice.

Security wanted me to bring him to the police station, they caught him at 2am in the morning during a particularly busy time of my work (I did not want to go to the NPC coz I was dead tired). The guy begged me to let him off & I did. Condo management made him sign a letter acknowledging that he was caught red handed stealing petrol & that any repeated case would mean the management reserved the right to charge him, even if the victim did not press charges.

On hindsight, should have let him suffer the full consequences of the law.

Dear Phantom Bros,

I was involved in a minor accident today. I recklessly cut into another driver's lane. To cut a long story short, the driver's expensive car was scratched. Maybe around 4cm x 2cm. The driver has now sent his car to the workshop, and will let me know the cost thereafter.

I am not sure how much it will be. But I am likely to make an insurance claim if the amount is more than $100, which I think will be the case.

Does anyone know how much a motorist's insurance premium will go up by? It's my first claim since I started riding last year...

Hope somebody can help.

i think it depends on the claim amount and definetly your NCD will be gone.

you sure if its just $100+, you dont wanna settle it privately?

its a very minor scratch and if the colour of the car is stock, the workshop should have the paint for it. it wont be much but be prepared for the worst incase the driver bast*rd you. good luck

Jap car bumper alone is around $300 +..

Depends what the driver intend to do.. if he don't mind using the touch up paint provided from workshop then it will cost u a bomb and u can be prepared to claim already..

If his going just use the touch up paint , a few dollars only ;D

Have had a personal accident policy for a long while now, but wasn't till of late that I realise that my NTUC personal accident policy does not cover motor cycling risk. I submitted a claim and was rejected cos the accident happened while I was riding.

Any one here have a PA policy that covers motor cycling risk? Care to share where it's from?

If you do own an existing PA policy, please do spare some time to go thru it to check if it does cover you when you ride.

Ride safe.

letter frm ANDA: We wish to inform you that we will not be inviting renewal for your policy. Reason: Due to Accident claim... wth? can i still continue buying insurance from them?

if i remember correctly, yes you can, but they'll quote you either 1p or plus excess or + interest, so yes, advise you to change company already because not worth it...

however if you go other company if i'm not wrong your premium will be slightly higher as well as (not sure about this part, if i remember correctly basis) they merge all their database into one so that they share information for claims....but its overall still a buyers market..

i got my bike insurance abt 6mths ago. My TPFT insurance is abt $400+

wow that's really attractive rate... plan to upgrade back to TPFT next renewal... after it falls below 500 for me =)

Hmm im having a problem.. My Road tax was last updated last 6 months and it is ending this 6 Dec but unable to get the new road tax because my insurance ends at april. Need advice on what needs to be done.

yep like what ezzyoiler said, you can update your insurance on a pro rated basis. if want, you can extend your insurance by another period, so that you can process your road tax for 6 months, as I don't think road tax can be pro rated , not sure..
