I thought cars see you with huge side box they will auto split to the sides hahahaa... scare you hit them :)

Saw it a few times on the road already. :) quite amazing to see the synchronized opening of the road for those with huge box :)

Have yet to see that. Only when the plate of the bike in question starts with a letter T or L.

side box add more presence to the bike mah. so cars can see more easily
If the driver refuse to acknowledge your presence even you use HID also the driver will say did not see you.

Is this type of mounting, with just a baseplate instead of using a rack, allowed when it comes to vehicle inspection?

Looks like its DIY. On an RXZ? Have fun taking out your seat/box everytime you need to fill up your 2T. Post pics if you successfully installed it as illustrated in the video. Edited by duo

Anyway install or not to install most important is what you want, you use it for your convenience. Frequency of needing a box to put things. Just another advice with box Stablility will be slightly lesser as the weight in the box will shift when you corner & when there's strong wind.

Side box (the type that only can put files & raincoat) will be slightly better as it lesser space for the weight to shift. & with even weight on both boxes your bike will be more stable than clean vertic

If it is precious then put it in a helmet bag and carry or just carry it as it is. Higher risk for it to be stolen if its secured to the bike.

I definitely go for a box to store items like rain suite, riding jacket & gloves, parking coupons, computer bag, etc.

I gave up on having box when I changed bike as I rarely use the items I put in my box. Putting used helmet in the box is disgusting. Should air it instead.

I've tried not having a top box on my new bike for around a month.

However, having to carry my helmet around and risk my laptop getting wet was too much..

Prefer to have storage just for the convenience though it spoils the look of the bike

Looked like it's very difficult to find a top box bracket for sport bike.

Any idea how to get a top box rack for Honda CBR400R ?

It looks better without a box TBH. I have a box on my motorcycle simply for convenience's sake. Else I'll have no place to put my purchases/helmet.
