Topic : Front brake upgrade.

Description : Any solutions?

********************************************************************

Hi Waveriders....

I am sick of the weak brake performance on my Wave. Still waiting for good brake pads to arrive.

In the mean time, I have seen this extra cylinder some kupkias installed before the brake caliper....what the hell is that? Suspect it's some hydraulic pressure booster. Anyone tried that before?

Another option is an upsize of brake disc....I do not need that Aprilia thingy....just want an improvement, not a race mod. Any riders put on an upsize brake disc/brackets installation?

Need advises like where to get it install, effectiveness and prices if possible.

Cheers!!!

I tried the flower disc...it's good at first, but after a while, the metal seems so....rough. And it dun bite well anymore. Maybe the stupid disc harden already and it's now faded.

Harden surface almost makes the disc harder to bite by the pads, so ended up inefficient braking.

That's why I also worry that the big disc unit also uses the same cheapo material, in the long run will be the same as the Posh flower disc. Good at first, but deterioate badly after prolong use.

Now my front brake feel is those that you press and feel the pressure builds up, but not biting. Then when you pull harder, it just improves a bit more. This gives me the creeps when riding in the wet......seems like front wheel lockup is anytime without warning when emergency braking in the wet.

Personally I am very sensitive about brakings.

The stock brakes are totally crap on sgp road.

downgraded recently from a doublesided 4 pot caliper bike to a single sided 2 pot caliper.

immediately I felt the difference of the braking power.

upgraded the brakeline to SS braided (not its not LAB product) , the braking power still doesnt satisfy me.

Trying to fabricate a bracket to fit on a 4 pot caliper from other bike model with an oversize disc.

I'll see how it'll turns out..

without a good brake pad no matter how good the line or caliper is it wont be effective as well...

True, it just like having a good swingarm and rims but with shitty tire.

I oso kenna before. Changed to bigger disc (round type, not the flower type) at JB Ah Boy. Came back when braking, like riding horse like tat, brake let go brake let go type of feeling. Damn bloody dangerous. But my friend riding X1 oso change his disc on the same day as me except he change flower type, his ok leh. :cheer:

Went back to JB Ah Boy the next day and guess wat, the braking area on the disc (the chrome part where the brake pad makan) is actually smaller than the brake pad and therefore eats outside the braking area causing the jerking. He told me have to grind my brake pads. Walau.... won't tat decrease my braking force? :giddy:

I decided not to change and instead of getting my moneyback, I took some accessories. He took back my disc at a lower price cos he say disc use already. Damn sian.....
