my rjays has been with you for quite a looooooooooooooong time already.

i believe to achieve good results you need to sand off your original paintjob before spraying a new colour..

that is a must, you will need to sand off till you can see the base coating..

spent 2 hrs and gotten this result, guys what u tink? havent apply lacquer yet tho. 2nd pic u can see vertical lines near the bottom part, did smoothen it more after taking the pic.

hello... i just did self spray to my nsr sp also...

seriously opening and putting back the fairing itself is no joke alr... luckily i have a fren to help me. esp fixing back the sai tao is damn frastrating! hahahaha

 

my display pic is my bike after the respray .

 

quality is not that good, as i dun really bother to sand of everything.

 

and i was too gan jiong, and i sprayed a thick layer and resulting in some cracks...

 

other than that is that some of the fairings seems to be matt as the laquer is not even out. haha.

 

good job to everyone that does their own respray!

Its there any specific grade of sand paper u guys use for sanding fairings?

It depends wether u wanna remove the paint or just smoothen the surface.

actually im abit worried about the sanding part. cos my fairings are plastic so im afraid i will sand too deep into the plastic. any bros have advice on this?

any bros noe where to get a portable sander for sanding misc stuffs? coz wanted to paint some parts on my bike by myself.. and decided to invest in a eletric sander if possible.. hopefully a hand held one.. but is it able to sand corners which r difficult to reach? and how much would 1 cost?thks

Go to autobacs at bukit batok or ubi.

There are many kinds, be sure to ask the shop assistants for their recommendation.

 

Other wise, I have seen paint shops carry it too (those jotun, nippon paint shops)

You're welcome (: Woah, I checked back on this thread, and I've to say that your finished product is great! Got current picture of your bike?

Not yet, should be fully assembled next week.

 

One tip for pol who intend to use rattle can spray. Use a brand new can of spray for the last coat. Cos when the spray can losses pressure the mist won't be so fine anymore and you'll get spots. Sadly, I have to learn it the hard way.
