ah yo.. no one will really leave the foot on top of the gear all the time la. If u do then the "force" must be very strong with u. Same for foot over foot brake. Just get them in the right place when u might need them?

all the people taking like no probs leh putting their leg as it is...only me...i was liked wtf...all this while my posture is wrong...haha....but after asking around my frens...yeah...almost all like u say...for the purpose of test they will do as required...if not all also got similar pattern or funny2 riding posture...but then again i find it hard to do wat required during the prac...

Now that i taking 2a...i have difficulty adopting a correct posture while riding...my probs is my leg is alway in between the gear...the right way should be leg on top of the gear...arggh...damn hard to change that habbit now!

I think it's up to each rider what he/she feels is comfortable, as long as it is not dangerous doing so.

My own preference is:

For highway riding, to have the ball of my feet on the pegs, which avoid having the foot near the brake/gear pedals. I will move my feet to use the pedals when necessary.

For start/stop riding in congested areas, to have my right foot sitting lightly above brake pedal, and left foot next to gear pedal to move in/out to adjust when necessary.

Just my own preference.
