orh... he build the custom bike himself so he needs to test it mah or his sons can test also but in this case, it's a stock homologated bike. bikeshop have no right to test the bike on the grounds of quality assurance. if the buyer does find a fault with his new bike, he should send it back to the shop/ distributor where the mechanic might need to test it and replicate the fault. to bring the bike for inspection or to the shop, there is always the lorry.

test ride the bike? what for? the bikeshop staff are NOT ALLOWED to ride the bike. when the bike is tested at the factory where it is authorised, the authorised technician will reset the odometer. note that i emphasize on "authorised", this refers to the manufacturer who test for quality control and officials who test for road homologation. the bike shop is considered the distributor, they buy from the manufacturer and they sell it. when they transport the vehicle, they are not allowed to ride it. even if they push it off the truck and wheel it into the shop, it will not be a 2km distance, it wouldn't even be more than 10m. i don't think that the short distance will even register on the odo since the battery is still plugged out, yes?

if my 1st hand bike's odometer or anything shows that my bike was ridden before i bought it, i will refuse that purchase. according to consumer law, as long as the product has not been passed into my possession, i have the right to refuse it on reasonable grounds. if the bike shop wants to play dirty and not refund me/ provide me with what i was promised in the sales, just approach the small claims tribunal and seek legal action.

this quote is a solid quote to whack the bike shop!

Agreed... Where got new bike send for inspection. Only if it is a really new model in Singapore (first one brought in) then it needs to be sent to LTA for homologation. Even then, it is transported on a truck and not ridden there. I don't think it's reasonable for a new bike to have an odo reading of more than 1km. Don't tell me the bike shop people push the bike to and fro, totalling 1km????

My Harley was 11km when I collected it. I was also fuming 'cos it's way too high for a new bike. I know they shifted it from the Alexander dealership to the Takashimaya boutique and back + road testing before delivering to me but 11 km, is still way too much!

On a different note...

LOVE your FatBoy dude... hehehe

I test-sat it at the HD dealership... Somehow the ergonomics are just perfect...

I do love my Fat Boy, but I do wish, that the maiden ride is only ridden by my butt! :sian:

Is it normal that the bike odometer shows 20km when U first collect the bike?

It is reasonable if it is maybe less than 5km, but 20km is way too much.

Am I able to reject the bike and demand for a one with less than 5km travelled?

Anyone has experienced this kinda situation?

Mine read 0km when collected my bike.

Can you pm me the bike shop please. Thanks!
