The dashboard design looks like it had been designed by someone who has no imagination or creativity whatsoever . The plastics sucks , the fittings are flimsy . The engine sounds like its running on nuts and bolts when it reaches 110km/h, which may attribute to low quality engine-building or bad sound-proofing of the main cabin. I know people would say , "what do you expect from a small cc engine?". But i must point out that the fiat panda would put the picanto to shame if it was to go head to head in terms of reliability or workmanship. and i just scratched the tip of the iceb.... nope mountain ...

picanto is, for as long as i live, the worst car EVER to stalk the face of the earth ...

The what car is good..... Merce or BMW......

It doesn't make any difference whether a motorcyclist has the right-of-way or not, the rider is the one most likely to get hurt.

After a lot of thought behind your question ... I've got a solution, get a second hand honda jazz ... Same price plus minus of a new picanto, and all the nights sleep you get after the car reaches 5-6 years ... I'm sick of comparing a mule to a horse ...

Posted

Then u get the less years to drive, more road tax to pay n yet the Jazz won't be a new car. The feeling of owning a new car is different. Sounds like u r looking down on the Picanto owners.

How time flies...

Big is certainly a warning but small can be downright scary! Never underestimate the effectiveness of small.

And why not get a even older BMW for the same price? U will then see the long list of problems coming your way...

Anyway... the thread starter asked for comments, not comparison...

i'm one of those learning about Picanto from this thread. Appreciate those who bother to share their views - be it comments or comparisons.

I guess we need to rate or compare Picanto based on its humble price (New is about $37k). Is it worth it to pay $37k for this car? How does it compare with new other cars ard its price - Kelisa, QQ, Savvy or even Getz 1.1.

Not fair to compare it with used car like Jazz, 'cos used Picanto cost only $23k onwards.

Couldn't agree more with you. I guess at $37k, it's a budget car for ppl who wants a new small car with reasonable build and afforable rd tax & consumption. My colleague is driving the new Picanto Auto, looks and feels gd, just that it's under-powered, esp for an auto car but she is happy with it as this is her 1st car. But she is gg to bang the wall as she bought it for $43k. :D

Honestly one may think the 2004 Gallardo is fantastic to drive? I beg to differ.

New auto picanto is still abt $39k+, so your colleague doesn't have to bang the wall lah.

I gave up driving 2 years ago and settled for a scooter. The cost savings are easily $1k per month, and travel time is also shorten. But moving the family ard using public transport during the weekend is quite a headache.

A few years ago, I won't consider any car without dual air bags and abs - Safety is paramount. Now, I have kinda of compromise those requirements due to budget constraints, 'cos the next "budget" car with these features cost about $10k more than the Picanto (Daihatsu Sirion 1.3m @ $47k) . I guess many biking folks here are considering Picanto for similar reasons.

Owns a Picanto now.. Can say its fuel consumption is quite good and also speed wise is good enough for singapore road and for a normal weekend ride..

What's the fuel consumption? My colleague only get 350km per full tank. Think she must be driving the car very hard. Is yours an auto too?

Toyota cars are like Honda bikes - still solid after 10 years. :cheeky:

was driving a vios previously. agree that toyota is super solid, and the vvti is smooth, fuel economical, and reasonably powerful. unfortunately, $40k budget can't find leh.. Is Toyota Passo 1.0 the cheapest new toyota?

I'm sorry if i hurt all the picanto's owners feelings ... I've never looked down on people who earns a humble living and buys a car of his liking . I'm just saying that it's not such a good car. I didn't start comparing until somebody said, "what do you expect of a cheap car?". You see, being cheap doesn't mean its rubbish, but being cheap also doesn't mean that it can't be rubbish .... Why so defensive ? The thread asked for a picanto review, i wrote a review.... like the dashboard, engine ... blahx3 ... sheeshh ...
