Has anyone rebuilt their rear shock before?

I have been searching for a place to do it, but can't decide where to do it.

Partly also because I am not sure whether it's the issue with the front or the rear.

Well the stock fork and my ohlin don't have compression damping, so I can only tweak the preload and rebound, so far sag is properly adjusted and rebound to my liking.

However my ride is very harsh, hitting a bump or a drop, will feel the hard impact. Could also hear the chain hitting the swing arm.

fork last serviced 10,000km back, and rear about 50,000km+-

Front forks most shops can service, ranging from $80-$170.

Rear shock abit tricky, you might want to try HKL(now they into ohlins servicing),bikelab, teck thye(david) or Mah(Meng Tong).I am trying to find a off day to service mine(OEM).My mileage abt 95 000+ km.

Try increasing yr preload first,Mine have the problem as yrs and i increase the preload seem to help abit.

hi,can anyone tell me where to get goldfren brakepad?consider to diy myself tks for ur infor

Get from FJT,they are the dealer for goldfren pads.$20 per pair(if prices nv increase).

Finally bite the dust and send my VFR for rear shock rebuild at bikelab.

Joshua & co cleanup and rebuild my rear ohlin, correcting the previously badly done job.

They were very knowledge, highly recommend them for suspension jobs.

Now bike has a stiffer feel and feel planted on the road. Finally know what a good condition shock should feel :)

Pretty expensive, can topup another $100++ for a PS3 liao.

Price is so expensive because of a snap hydraulic hose.

Hi Sino

I like to check with you where is Ah Chong located?

Thanks!

Well, it's my turn to share now.

Just went for the servicing of my Viffer today.

Date : 14 May 2009, Thursday

Time : 11:30am to around 4:15pm

Venue : Bikers Point at Eunos Ave 3

Servicing done by :

Cheif Engineer, Mr Ah San

Servicing done :

(1) Tunning of the 4 "butterfly flaps" valves

(2) Cleaning of the 4 small "rod-like" injectors

(3) OWS 10:40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil X 4 bottles X 1 L

(4) Oil filter X 1

(5) OWS Iridium Spark Plugs X 4 pcs

(6) GPR "BMW-look-alike" hand grips X 1 pair

Total damage = SGD 297

Negotiated with the boss = SGD290

I am not sure whether it is appropriate to list down the price of each individual item here.

If anyone of you wish to know the break-down of the price for each item, please feel free to PM me. Thank you.

You may find the total damage very cheap. If it is considered cheap, this is because I know a friend working in one of the bike shops along Jalan Bukit Merah and this friend is a very good friend of Mr San, so my friend recommended me to go to Bikers Point to find Mr San.

If you guys have any bad experiences with Bikers Point and felt that I should not be doing my servicing there, well, to each his own, one man's meat may be another's poison. Some people like a particular bike shop, some may have bad experiences against it. I am just here to share the servicing costs with all Viffers. :)

All I can say is that I return home a very, very happy man after he serviced my ride and my throttling is ultra smooth now... I would say this ex-Sanfu guy is good. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: My long hours of waiting and seeing him take out the "block" to clean, then put back and do the tunning of the 4 "butterfly flaps" valves has indeed been very fruitful... I learnt a lot more about my ride (Pardon me, a newbie here)... :)

Also, met a few Gold-Wingers there who sent their rides for servicing. Heard they are getting ready for their Annual Wingers Ride to Terengganu next week. :thumb: to them and their rides... :) So shiok to see so many Wingers in a day today... :)

Cheers. :)
