Hello everybody.

Marcus' final journey begins tomorrow, 26 Dec at 0845 from Blk 56 Strathmore Avenue, to Mandai Crematorium Hall 3.

His mother would like to request a bike convoy in his honor. I've just received word of this from the family. It's a last minute request to honor him.

Pls all, those who can turn up for the cremation.... pls help spread the news.

Be at Blk 56 Strathmore Avenue at 8:00am to ride with our dear friend for the final time. The convoy will set off at 8:45am.

If possible, it would be nice if we had Ducatis leading the pack, as that was Marcus' favorite marque.

All bikes are welcome, as Marcus was a proud owner of not only a sportbike, but also a scooter and a Varadero as well. He was a fan of all types of bike. A true biker!

P.S.

It would also be nice if there can be a KTM Superduke in the pack... As Marcus and I had a lively conversation just a couple weeks back, and he mentioned that this was the only other bike he was lusting after. :)

Thank you all.

The other thread had been deleted, I strongly feel that the mods are being too harsh and untactful. The service just ended and I came back here with the intention to thank all those involved and to consolidate the requests for stickers and I can't find it anymore.

USE SOME COMMON SENSE MODS!!!:angry::angry::angry:

I hope you would give me a chance to consolidate the stickers first before closing this thread also!

All those who want the stickers please state your name/nick and contact numbers. I would try to give you what I have left.

The weekend Johore Circuit 6 years ago particularly Sunday morning used to be a congregation for faster riders. Customers who patronise the circuit are generally classified as the faster riders. Doing 1:50s considered as a mediocre rider is a very common sight in the track during those times. However as time passes by, the slower riders start to flock into the circuit on weekends. This however doesn't affect the old timers as the faster riders simply overtake the slower ones. But amongst these slower riders, there're those who boast of timings they've yet to achieve. They however did not come for the sake of tasting the track like Marcus. This particular group of people have come to get themselves passed off as the faster weekend riders. With such a mentality, these people often let their swollen pride burst out in stupor. Insisting to 'lead' when they obviously have no capacity to do it. While some pit themselves against the faster riders in order to learn, some did it in order to be branded 'fast' when obviously they aren't. One of the local MSS qualified racer call these 'handgun riders'. When a group of seasoned riders pit against each other with cut throat competitive maneuvers between 1:35 to 1:55 in PG, accidents are rare sights. However with the handgun riders, crashes are common sights even when they are merely doing more than 2 minutes! This group often get themselves or others into accidents which eventually led to claim the 1st innocent casualty recently.

As it will be impossible to keep away these handgun riders, I'd definately not mind paying twice the rate to secure a much safer environment. With a properly set up management team to flag off reckless stuntmen off the track & carry out efficient casualty evacuation. This money will be well spent.

With evidences showing the Singaporean government displaying explicit keen interests to enter the motorsports industry, the Johor Circuit Management must acknowledge that their much monopolized industry in the vicinity will be short-lived. Keep up or be kept out. Marcus will not sacrifice in vain.

SBF Mods..

there were people that left heartfelt and meaningful messages on the thread.. i for one, spent 2 hours reading it last night from 3 - 5am despite being very very tired.. i made my post on behalf of my club..

there is really no reason that i can see why you had it removed..

i would strongly urge you to reconsider your actions..

IMO, i dun see why slower riders shouldnt go on track days......

And track day HAD been an event for experienced riders. but, i dun think experienced faster riders go to track days for fast practice. it may appear fast, but its not a day for lap times.

lap times doesnt make a rider fast or experienced. but lines are the important ones. i have seen riders with good lap times who are actually track hazards.

in this case, i just feel that the idiot didnt follow track discipline. how to educate track discipline should be the question.

marcus had been a good friend to many, and he shouldnt be remembered on how he passed away, but what a fun person he was. an accident like this should never happen again.

my suggestion is track day enrolment should have a cutoff timing at 9.30am with 15-20 mins of track briefing by mr syed, and suggestion timings.

newcomers should be given 10 to 15 mins track time with experienced riders, to be taught with basic linings.

FOR YOUR INFO.

those who take part in racing will know. every race we attend, we have briefing that goes to almost an hr....and it may sound the same all the time....but we still attend.

Using sepang as example, the white line safety at track entrance is emphasised all the time. and mistakes still happen. we are talking experienced riders here.

Don't just break your laptimes, SHATTER them!!

Thank you for your concern. Even though I believe you have mistakenly comprehended my message, I still concur with your views.

I must also highlight that Marcus's demise is equally distressing to all of us who know him.

As I have expressed, there is absolutely nothing wrong with slower riders on the track on a track day. The faster riders simply just overtake them and of course leave them alone. However one should be mindful that the handgun riders I've previously described are common amongst slower riders. These are the very type of track users who create the hazards. (Slow riders do not contribute to unnecessary hazards)

It is very normal to execute aggression on the track to propel the rider/driver ahead of the competitors. And naturally the indemnity form entitles anyone to ride/drive in anyway that'll bring about victory on the track. However, in view of ethics, one should refrain from deeds which are against the fundamental sense of safety. In this case, a stoppie on the grandstand with people behind still rushing to complete the lap is outrageously perilous and totally uncalled for.

Timings are merely the best benchmarks to gauge how one performs. As we all spent some time on the tracks before, riding alone is not as encouraging as with competitors to do better lap timings. When with competitors, there is no perfect lining in the track. The best lining is the only lining that is going to bring you ahead of your competitors. There is absolutely nothing wrong with overtaking a competitor in front and cut in just inches away to secure the next corner if that is the only way to clinch victory. But this is done in order to ascend the ranking positions and not to deliberately cause accidents. Overtaking and being overtaken is very common in the track and all track users must be accustomed to it.

I strongly believe that if the fatal crash was the result of 2 fairly competitive riders attempting to overtake each other will not stir up the current distress amongst fellow track riders.

Just like you, I hope that the track can offer a better coverage towards safety and service.

Reading the New Paper today, I believe that the 'handgun riders' MS calls them and the culprit are not totally to blame. I believe the management of PG has to take a huge responsibility too. The culprit said he checked clear before performing his deadly stunt, makes me wonder what was going on in his mind. I believe that the many accidents by trackies could have been avoided if there was a proper briefing in the first place. How many countless trackies and newbies actually know all or are totally clueless about the rules of the track.

If the culprit had been briefed, I believe he would'nt have done such a dangerous stunt. PG's safety has much to be questioned. I remember hearing of someone lying injured at the gravel for half an hour before help came. That was on a weekday.

To a dear friend snatched away from us, we mourn. Marcus, when I finally go back to the track, I will take some time there to remember you, my friend.

if only every person who's on the track, be it the officials, spectators or riders, take track discipline seriously, such unnecessary loss will not happen.

the officials can be drumming all the rules and regulations of the track into the riders... but if the gung-ho riders do not take them seriously, then it's all a wasted effort.

of course, if these rules are broken and nothing serious happened, everyone will probably close one eye and move along. but if something happened (like the recent case), then everyone starts their finger-pointing. to me, this is a little too late already.

track discipline is of utmost priority. offenders should be reprimanded regardless of how serious the offend is. and the reprimand should be heavy too and not just a slap on the hand.

i hope everyone will now learn a lesson or two from this tragedy or else our fellow brother and rider would have gone in vain.

God bless his soul.
