I finally found some time to open up the airbox and v-belt filter cover to service the filters. Noticed that the engine air filter is a paper-based type and not the wet type as mentioned in the manual. So can only vacuum it. Also it's not the replaceable type as the filter element is glued to a piece of plastics that separates the dirty and cleaned air. Don't think there's an after-market wet filter but if you guys know of one, do let me know.. The airbox design is really simple with the main inlet pointing downwards. It's tough to modify for forced-air intake due to the small space and lack of ideal front facing funnel.

The v-belt filter element is a foam type. I must say it's really dirty for 4k-km mileage. Comparatively, the engine air filter looks clean. Just wash with K&N Air Filter Cleaner, let it air dry, and oil with K&N Air Filter Oil.

At the same time, I took a look at the coolant reservoir and noticed that it's only around the minimum. This may be some area to look out for as I supposed factory will only give you the minimum to save costs. Intend to fill it up to the max with coolant. I will probably want to check the brake reservoir.

Also adjusted the rear brake free play to compensate for the brake pad wear.

Was trying to figure out where's the fuel inlet line. If any bros know, appreciate the advice.

For the IU, was thinking a good place will be directly in the center just infront of the black triangle visor. If we can find a crash-bar to fit at the side mirror base, should be able to route and mount the IU there.

I think like bro williamleesg said, Nuovo riders are shy people. We don't have big guns and like to do our part in saving the earth by being fuel economy and not causing too much air and noise pollution :)

I don't really have a lot of confidence in SG mechanics and am only keen in upgrades that enhances performance. But to use 135cc as a base may be a little too low :)

so guess u guys got plans to change carbs, bigger pistons, racing cdi, etc?

Wah, testing my memory ... Bought it long time back together with the K&N filter for my car. If you have been looking at motorcycle shops, maybe you should visit a car shop. Should be very common as K&N is a reknown and popular brand. I think only cost 20+ as a kit. 8oz bottle and very lasting as only re-oil at 20k km for car.

I think 400cc and multi-cylinder will be a good base to start with for performance mod, like your CB400 Spec2 :) but I prefer automatic bikes. Why do you still get Nuovo when you have 400cc?

Posted

I think it's possible to replace the air-box with a mushroom foam filter. But may need a angled elbow with bigger to smaller diameter convertor as the air intake is really small (only about 3cm).

Posted

haha,i like the practicality of automatic bikes around singapore, easier to maneuver in singapore's road. True, bigger cc bikes got the power to go faster anytime. It's two different kind of feeling when riding small bike and bigger cc bikes.. I juz love both types of riding..

That's the same reason I bought the Nuovo. Really no brainer and no stress when riding, except when it's wet weather.

i have changed my rear to yss ones, front one dunno where to get them, saw them from thailand magazines but singapore dunno where to get..

why do you change your shocks to yss? is it better? and what do u mean by preload? stock one can adjust? lol.. i feel so noob.

Posted

haha,i changed mine to chrome one bcoz my bike colour is black and silver.. juz to blent in with the colour of the bike.. heard from one bike shop,he told me stock shocks for nouvo is good enough but to me,abit too soft, that's why i change..

hmm..not very sure, think most shop don't keep stock for 16 inch as it's not as common as 17 inch.. bro alifk69,u though of changing to dunlop tt900 or tt901 (sotong)? ever though of changing to bridgestone battlax?
