cannot pass inspection is a good thing!

if can still pass inspection, means not rad enough! :p

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

Hi fellow steed riders, I have a problem with my bike I hope you guys can shed some light on it.

Recently I just changed my tyres and also changed my fork oil and fork oil seals etc. However, my bike starts to be bouncy at the front even when I am travelling on straight and new road. Before that, it was never like this before. This is the first time i ever encounter such incident with my bike. The feeling is like as if the road is uneven and the handling is jerky. I went to a few mechanics and they say everything is fine with the bike after several testing despite feeling the bouncing and jerking with the bike.

have you guys encountered such issues before? can you guys help me out? thanks!

Hi guys,

Any one with a spare exhaust lying around to let go?

If your steed is in it's 20th year.. would u extend it for another 10?

A tad worried about spare parts availability in the next 10 yrs.

Even though the engine is reliable.. other parts will still wear & tear

Besides these list of major parts I replaced over the years, any bros experienced wear & tear replacement of other parts?

- water pump fan (@13th year) ~$180

- stator (@ 14th year) ~$200-300

- rectifier (@ 14th year) ~$200-300

- cdi (@ 18th year) ~$380

Check your tyre pressure for a start.

It could be due to the "new" syndrome. By this I mean your tyres being new & harder.. mechs also tend to over-pump tyre pressure.. leading to u feeling the road more.

Is the difference very obvious? I myself found my bike feeling bumpier.. when a particular section of the PIE I used to always ride by was re-tarmac-ed. I begun to observe the suspension on other roads.. & realised suspension was okay.

If u still feel something is off, you may want to join a meetup & let other bros test your ride/ try theirs.

Hello Redemptionite,

As you have replaced the fork oil, the difference in handling you felt could be due to the fork oil's weight. The stock specification called for a 10wt. For a more pronounced damping feel i would usually choose a heavier 15wt. Your mechanic could have used a lighter 5wt oil thus making the front end twitchy. Do check with the shop the weight of the oil they used to replace yours with.

A couple of things to take note when meddling with the front end:

1. Cone bearings not worn beyond serviceable limits;

2. Fork oil levels are the same for both stanchions (I had a friend who's Z1000SX came from the factory *dammit* with slightly different levels causing cornering stability issues);

3. Front wheel is true (as we have spokes);

4. Wheel bearings are serviceable without play and seals are intact;

5. Installed any sealant in your tubes? Some sealants act as balancers for your wheels. It could be a cause for wobbles. I've installed in mine and frankly, I didn't feel any difference.

6. Tyre used is the correct size (slap them if they didn't)

All those things may cause handling issues. Hope it helps

hi econbizer,

I have let the mech checked already and they all checked the tyre pressures and they are fine. The difference is really obvious. By right on a straight road, I should nt be feeling alot of bumpiness. but I always feel this bumpiness. especially when I am cruising around 60-70km/h

hi defected,

thanks for your input on my bike issues. i let rosli did my fork for me and I ask him to run all the tests on it. I initially tot it was the cone bearing also, but I also him to checked that as well, he said everything was fine yet the problem still persist. i don think I installed any sealants in my tubes.

Hi guys, i need help with rectifying an issue i'm facing with my Steed. I'm starting to see water leaks from somewhere, which i think its from the radiator lower hose.

I know its not oil because i touched it. As you can see from the attachment below, the leak is trickling down from the screw and also the side stand. Anyone can point out the source and which part needs repair?
