AM hoses are usually steel-braided, thus the hose will have little expansion when you brake hard. the brake fluid pressure wouldn't be lost due to the expansion of the hoses, but instead go direct to your brake calipers.

hey can anyone clarify what are the brake system parts that we need to rebuild?

quite blur here. brake pump can rebuild and service? brake pump is the one near the brake handle near the brake fluid reservoir right?

brake caliper and piston what are these things? can anyone help explain?

Change your brake oil then brake lines....Brake oil is the weakest link in brakes...

For a starter, the most obvious and most cost effective way to improve your machine's braking is to bleed your brake system and fresh Brake Fluid.

Presence of water and air bubble prevent your brakes from functioning well. Brakes bleeding is a very cheap remedy. I Reckon this is a good start.

Another very cost effective way is to change your brake pads to HH Sintered Brake Pads.

Thos a Ceramic or Kevlar brake pads are easy on the pocket as what many percieved, in actual fact, it doesnt last as long as Sintered pads and most importantly, to pay that bit more for sintered pads, you get lot more braking power, alot more confidence in your riding and of course the level of safety is not compromised. Given the state of traffic these days.

Cheers

You don't have to change the all the mentioned things.

Just rebuild your rear brake calipers. Remove the pistons and inspect the o-rings within the calipers. Chances are too much rust and dirt have build up and caused the pistons to be stuck. If the pistons and caliper bores are scored or pitted from severe rusting, you'll have to change the damaged parts. If the o-rings are torn or broken, replace them too, otherwise all you need is just to give it a good washing and it'll be fine. I speak from my own experience of having my front brakes locking up on me while riding.

Don't let the shopfellas fool you into parting with your money. It's the easiest way for them to ensure that the brake issues will be solved. That kind of workmanship money is expensive. Make them work hard and solve your brake problems properly to earn your money.

Stupid question, but may I ask what happened when your front brakes locked while riding? Any chance the bike flipped over/forwards??

I think it depend on how fast you are going when your front brake locked.

HH Sintered Brake Pads - expensive leh per pair

So when doing brake pad changes must change front and rear to the same type or can I just change the front to HH Sintered Brake Pad and then rear the normal type ?

I understand that Sintered pads cost more then your regular super budget Kevlar Ceramic brakepads.

But lets sit back and think about it. the price you pay for reputable HH Sintered pads is non compare to repair bills.....hospitalisation and all the unwanted down time. Remember sometimes accident doesnt necessary invovle you only, you may have pillion on it, or what about other road users.

and the best bit...HH pads probably cost $20 bucks more. So the question is really to ask yourself, are you worth more then $20.
