Money No enough 2

While the movie pokes fun on the current government policies, Jack Neo has an agenda higher than money concealed in the movie. The movie jeers at the uselessness of the ERP system which has utterly failed its initial agenda, it also shows the current MLM scene. However, the greatest objective of all is the issue filial piety, cherishing your loved ones.

A good movie to reflect on the current Singaporean views on the aspects of personal integrity and also our attitude towards our loved ones. Esepcially to those whom we 'owe' a living to.

Somehow, it didn't appear touching to me. But rather very infuriating to see how the sons are treating their mother. The mother gave them her money meant for her retirement to help them tide over their lowest periods. When her friend taught her how to beg for money so that she can help her sons, she did it even though it was embarressing. But her ungrateful sons who only had the mind of making use of her reprimanded their mother instead. While taking turns to take care of their mother, they pushed the responsibilities around despite having the extra money to hire a maid. It dawned upon me about the excretion problem. When the sons were still babies, don't they urinate and excrete everywhere they go? But I don't think the mother will place her sons near the toilet.

 

At her bed when she realised that her grand-daughter was in dire need for the same blood as she is, she witnessed her useless children fighting over the pack of blood. The act of self sacrificial love for the grand daughter is marvellous. But the scenes of the son claiming that sacrificing his mother to save his daughter is justifiable even though his mother has the blood first is indeed frustrating.

 

Well... I do hear quite many people sobbing in the theatre. But rather, it is a very harsh reminder on the reality we face today when we are poorer than when 'money is not enough'.
