@nas_1986 and @shixiongsg, Pulsar prices do drop quite a lot when second hand. But then again, if the bike is in excellent condition, it can have a price of 3.5-4.5k . Now that doesn't mean Nas that the bike you saw had a problem. Sometimes people either don;t know the market value of the bike, or just want to sell it without loosing too much. When I first looked out for a Pulsar, I saw an ad for a brand new P200, less than 5k mileage, for 3.2k. At the time I didn't have my licence yet, and the bike was snatched by someone in 2 days.

It is the bike's health and status that will tell you if the price is justified. So for both your cases, there is no way around understanding and knowing as precisely as possible, exactly what is the condition of the bike.

 

Shi, your bike is 2.5y old, what's the mileage ?

 

For the speedo light, here's what's up with the P200, and this happens to all P200, even brand new ones: when you turn on the ignition (without starting the engine), the dashboard light will turn on then will turn off after a few seconds. Your neutral gear light will still be on.

Then, when you actually start the bike with the electric start, the dashboard will light up again and stay like that. BUT, if you then kill the bike with the switch (ignition kill switch on the right hand side handle) or you stall, or anything that turn the engine off, then your dashboard light will turn off and will not turn on again unless you OFF the ignition (turn the key to the left, OFF position) and turn the ignition ON again. Then only you get the dashboard light again.

It's how the bike is made, and that's its "normal" behavior. This has nothing to do with air and whatever. See for yourself, go to UM, ask them to let you turn on a brand new P200 parked there and experience it. What do you mean by "twi indicators" ?

 

For your fuel consumption, that is definitely too low, are you sure you measure it correctly ? Also, what is your riding style ? If the bike has an engine or sprocket problem (which by your feedback, it must have, because no P200 will hit 9k RPM at 95 km/h..), it might cause an over consumption of fuel. I assume you haven't noticed any leaks or any suspicious puddles of oil/fuel below the bike when you park it ?

 

Obviously, I'm not gonna spend too much time on the uncle at your shop and his comment: you can just tell him next time you see him that before talking out of his butt, he should actually KNOW what he's talking about before speaking.Anyway, like I said, go to UM and that will be the best thing you've done for your bike since you had it. They will immediately tell you if the bike has any engine issues and where it can come from. They will also make sure they understand why the high rpm and why the neutral gear is so hard to get. (Just so you know, sometimes people complain about the neutral gear even on brand new P200. I haven't had any problem with mine and I suspect the gear shifting is a question of how hard/smooth your shifting is. But in your case if you struggle so much to shift to neutral gear, it might be that the lever or the gears need to be checked).

 

As for the price you paid, please don't worry. Now that you paid for it, you won;t enjoy the bike if you think you've paid too much. Get the bike to the shop at UM, have it checked and maybe pay for some repairs. But after that, you'll gt to finally really enjoy an awesome bike. There's no way any of us can tell you how much it will cost because we don;t know what UM will find out. And I'm not going to give you big or small figures, it will only make you worry for nothing. Just get the bike to them And also, join us in our meetings. You'll be able to have a closer at other Pulsars and here other thought on the bike.

i'm sorry there's typo error i twi indicator...I mean two indicators/icons keeping flashing on the top of the speedometer which stands 4 high engine temperature and air filter element choked.

Regarding the oil/fuel leakage there is no puddle leakage. I'm not a chiongster so i hardly speed. On normal road 60-70km/h and on CTE 80-90km I mostly use my bike to travel to and back to Amoy Quee camp during the weekends. Rest of the days it will stay put in my camp...

 

Well i don't want to go back to Southern for any other business besides paying my installment.Guess have to save up for the repair...pocket burn..oh ya forget to add on, who can I approach over there at UM?the mechanics or saleman?

From my observation, the sales staff will listen to your symptoms, and assign the most capable staff.

Dat tyme durin my accident..i was ridin s4..i did e exact same ting as u did..horn n flashed like hell coz e taxi alrdy inched out of his pocket coverin my side e 1st lane..u cannot say dey r deaf coz u may not know whether dey can hear u from e oppo side coz..dey may be listenin to loud music..sum1 blabberin at dem hence ignorin ur horns.alot of possibility..in my case i tink my right leg got trapped btwn e car n my bike b4 i flew..dats y i dislocated my right light leg causin it to fracture my hip..took me 3-5mths to walk again..imagine dat..worse thing is i had no witnesses n e taxi apparently had a witness..i was fined 2.8k n suspended from drivin all classes..n e light was also in my favour..so imagine my anger..go to mp see lawyer all dey say no point fightin since i gt no witness so its hard for me to win n will be wastin my money n may be slapped wif a heavier fine. So if u got e witnesses to back u up..go get a lawyer to settle..NEVER trust e tp IO..never! Dey juz wana clear ur case asap due to kpi. If u dun have e money..der r sum companies i noe whom are willin to pay e lawyer for u 1st..den dey will juz get a cut out of e money u receive from insurance.

 

But of coz its up to u hw u wana settle this..i am juz speakin out of experience

as for lawyer, there's 2 type of claim, 1 is like the lawyer fees, they claim from the other party's insur. 2nd is ur injury claim, but from there they will take certain %. however if u lose n u still tell the lawyer to fight, then if lose, u'll bear the charges.

 

workshop earn from the parts & labour. so the more damage u have, the more they earn. that why some workshop play cheat by damaging the parts n jack up the price. that why got idac also, so workshop cant play cheat.

Abt lawyer..u r juz seein it from 1 perspective..when claimin..ur lawyer u engage acts on damage to vehicle n injury. E reason y bikeshops jack up e damage is because if u get 50/50..ders a chance u will need to pay. Whether dey get 50% or 100%..none of dat money goes to u. E only money u will get is injury..so if u win 100% n ur injury is trivial..u will onli get a 2k-3k i tink. In my case my lawyer onli gets a cut from my injury claim 15% or max of $800. All shops will wan to profit out of this..no shops r doin volunteer work. Ders alot of ifs n ors in accident cases..juz be prepared to fork out sum cash 1st.

drill is there, confusion when it happen, got some passerby say wana be my witness, but didn't get contact, cos was pull here n there.

 

anyway i can believe i met a blind & deaf old doctor driver, 3 horns r not enough to wake him up, technically the whole street can hear me, n he still dare to say i should give way. my poor zorro.

i saw him from far, so i slowed then see him moving, horned, still moving, jam brake, prep for impact. confirm i'm not speeding, cos i stopped under a bridge to put on my rain coat. how fast do u think i can go in 5-10m? he's not fast either, no like "fast & furious" those kind of turnings, howerver he didnt stop, not 1 bit. execute the turn like i was invisible.

 

2 things i dont get, how come my bike ended up that way. why i didnt break a leg like fredd. it was a direct full front to side hit. i suspect my crash bar help create a gap n it was direct. if i was faster by a tiny bit, it could be my legs that was crushed. n i did fly like fred. n it helped there wasn't other vehicles, only 2 of us in that instance. guess lady luck was smiling on me.

 

thinking back, i could have avoid by speeding up. but my expectation when i horned is he would take some action, how would i know that guy is deaf.

Bro, Southern has screwed up your bike's gearing ratio. 95 kms/hr at 9K RPM is not the stock setting. Either they have change the sprockets to wrong size or the wrong gears. Better take it UM and get it rectified. FC of 26km/ltr is horrible . Thats another symptom that something gone horribly wrong.

 

Only UM can fix your bike and they are your only hope.

 

this is right.. i agree.. they must have done smtin to the bike wrongly.. maybe the previous owner did nt take care of it either.. check your EO level too!
