Hi guys. Bike won't start. Ug 2. Engine juz makes that whrilling sound when i press e engine button. Kickstart oso nothing. Signal and horn still working properly though. I left it untouched for 1 day. Any simple troubleshooting i can do cuz im right next to e bike now.

Try clutching in and electric start. Check if kill switch is on.

Was a little concerned that the engine ate .4L of oil. While the oil change was a little overdue, i was expecting over .9L of oil instead of .8L. I add 1.2L of unclube every oil change, btw

@spaiduhz ... can share any reason why you add 1.2L of EO for your UG3? ...... just wondering lah

I was expecting the engine to eat some engine oil, so i added more so that when i drain the oil, it would be closer to 1L.

As it turns out, i also enjoy less vibrations. Ah, serendepity.

I think that is true. I ride my bike always at 7-8K RPM and my bike never has cold start problems, just 1 crank and it starts. Also I keep idle RPM super low, like 0.8k when it is cold and 1k when warm up and after a high RPM ride for 1/2 hour still RPM is only 1.5K. Still 1 crank and bike starts. I never use choke also. I didn't even know where the choke is, untill recently

hahah ... @spaiduhz ...

anyway just do note that the manual guide has it purpose .... and more does not mean good either !! ...

"Now we come to oil levels. Every engine needs a certain amount of air space inside the engine.

If you put in too much oil, it cuts down on this air space and increases the engines internal pressure. This can cause an engine to smoke or blow out oil through the seals (leakage) and/or engine breather.

If you put too little oil in, you blow up your engine, so you had best be accurate in the amount that goes in. One way is to look in the shop manual." .. dan's motorcycle

UG3 manual book

Recommended Oil Grade and Qty

Grade SAE 20W50 of API ‘SG’ + JASO ‘MA’

Quantity Drain & Refill 1000 ml.

Engine Overhaul 1100 ml.

P200 manual book

Recommended Oil Grade and Qty

Grade SAE 20W50 of API ‘SG’ + JASO ‘MA’

Quantity Drain & Refill 1150 ml.

Engine Overhaul 1300 ml.

(do note when draining oil .. not 100% of oil is out .. meaning to say there will be some oil left in the engine and if regular top up or refill, the amount will be always be more rather than less and if that happens .. reason why most of us have leakage problem cos as mentioned above ... excessive oil will increase pressure in the engine !!!)

Cheers!!

Well, the bike sounds happier with 1.2L instead of 1L, so i cant argue with that.

The only eo that gives me a satisfactory reduction of engine vibration using 1L would be petronas mineral. Oddly enough, its more expensive than unclube.

I have heard good things about shell oil, unfortunately lab doesnt stock this. When you change oil once a month, it all adds up, and 1.2L of unclube monthly is much cheaper than 1L of petronas monthly. Needless to say, its a fraction of the price of shell oil, also monthly.

Pulsar bike don't have oil filter. So all the particle will circulate in the engine oil. Changing oil more often meaning drain out the particle more often indirectly cleaner engine.

Small engine not necessary to have an external oil filter .... reason why our pulsar (except LS 135) does not have that but that does not mean pulsar do not have entirely a filter unit!!!

Like it stated on my signature .... old does not mean old fashion or old ideas or old mindset .... hehehe

Pulsar do have a centrifugal oil filter in the engine ... and it works the same as external oil filter ...

"The most primitive type of oil filter is the centrifugal type. It can be in the center of a clutch hub or a separate spinning cup through which the oil is pumped.

If you thought that this sounds like it would not do a good job, you would be thinking wrong.

At least judging from the amount of sludge, gook and metal filings I have cleaned out of them.

On some of these engines, there is a cover you can remove to get at the filter and on others you have to remove the entire clutch cover.

You don't see these anymore except on small single cylinder engines.... " .... dan's motorcycle

http://www.dansmc.com/changeoil_centrifugal2.jpg

For Pulsar bike ... manual stated .. you need to clean the centrifugal oil filter every 10,000 km!!!! ... meaning you save cost here compare to external oil filter which need to cahnge occasionally during eo intervals!! ..... don't under estimate our Indian bike and their technology!! .. kekekeke

check my profile album to see where is our centrifugal oil filter ...... cheers!!!
