@muzzyfuzzy, did you go to UM yet ? Are they the ones who changed your battery ?

I get that you're angry with the mechs , but as far as I'm concerned, I've had nothing but great experiences with UM. But like i said in a previous post, I don;t just dump the bike there and expect them to fix it and give it back. I explain the problem, I investigate with them, I ask them to share with me their conclusions. They are very friendly and they will give your their point of view.

We don;t recommend UM because it's the only shop. We recommend them because between all of us here, we probably use their services at least once a week. So that's a good source for customer feedback, and if they were horrible or not good enough, we would know. The truth is, not all bike problems are easy to diagnosis and not all bikes are maintained the same. And most of the time, UM mechs can't guess the previous treatment the bike had or your own riding style. So you have to share as much info as possible, about the history of the bike, your riding style and give them some background info. In any case, I find that at UM they troubleshoot always starting with the most obvious and cheaper solution first. They will only suggest big repairs if it's obvious to them the problem is big or if they have already tried other solutions but the problem persists.

And they usually will not let you struggle with a problem, they are always willing to give you peace of mind and to find what the issue is and fix it once and for all, even if it means they have to spend more time on the bike or ask you to bring it back.

That's my experience, feel free to try them out and make your own opinion about them !

Now, a silly question for you, before you start jumping to the conclusion that it's the magnetic coil or something too complicated. Could be, but there's very simple issues :

- did you check your fuel level ?

- is your fuel lever on the right position (try putting it on reserve if you don't know how much petrol you have in the tank)

The symptoms you described are an exact match for fuel issues, like Spaiduz listed in his reply. To add on to what he wrote which covers pretty much everything, an easy way to troubleshoot a starting problem is to remind yourself that the bike needs 3 things to start and work:1. Fuel 2. Air 3. Spark

Hello!

Nope I did not get my bike checked at UM previously, it was another mech which explains why I'm a bit more skeptical about "mechanics" now in general so I just wanted to check on the general consensus on the reliability of UM as a whole.

I probably would drop by UM tomorrow or something. And there's definitely fuel in that thing. The fuel level is also always set at ON. I rode it without any problems last night! What puzzles me is how can it be working so well on Saturday, completely unable to start on Sunday although the engine still turns when I press the e-start button and when I attempt to kick-start, and then being able to work yesterday again.

Go back to UM bro, dun believe what other mechs tell you about Pulsar.

My personal regular mech who services all my other bikes till now still says Bajaj is no good and TVS is better.

So I tell him if he has any Bajaj for sale and in his opinion it is no good, sell me cheap cheap. hahaha

What do you do in that case ? Do you use a repair kit like for bicycles , pump the tyre back and ride to the bikeshop to change it ?

Is it the front or rear wheel ?

I need to learn how to fix a punctured tyre, otherwise it's gonna be tricky to tour...

I have a kit. If you want, i can help you patch it.

You work at lokyang industrial?

mine is tube tyre =.="

i'm at mandai, not lokyang. double =.=""

anyway i just ride slowly to a nearby workshop with hazzard lights n get it fixed. tried to pump up, but went flat immed.

ya i know will spoilt my rim, but dont really care since i might be able to chg it. kekekeke

yes bro .. go to UM .... tell UM especially Chris that we recomend you to go to UM ... if he said something bad about us .. do inform us back .... later we all together in group will drop by and 'bombard' them ... hehehee

seriously bro .. UM mech are also human ... can't be pefect one but like others have said .. they understand our bike better and the mech won't chop chop you there ... if you feel kind of being cheated .. do ask Chris to confirm .. but yet again to say .. get the regular mech to do for you .. ask for jacky, or 'no good' ah tek .. it's your bike bro .. you can choose which mech you want there cos you are paying them afterall .... that is what Chris told me .. customer have the right to choose who to do their bike!! ...

You wont spoil rim. You will spoil the neck of the tube.

Didn't know tube type tyres still existed in Singapore. Even if they existed didn't know if any shop existed who could find the hole and patch it up like cycle tyres
