When the bike is going into the gravel, how do we able to pick ourselves away from it and back into the track path? Any idea?o_O

i think it's more important to "settle" down first before thinking about going back to the track path when entering the gravel..

based on experience.. when entering into the gravel, do not turn the handlebar as doing so will definitely invite a fall..

instead try keeping the handlebar straight and maintaining balance, at the same time tapping the brake lightly (depending on your speed on the gravel)

only after the bike has stop then turn and ride slowly out of the gravel and back to the track..

just a newbie ^^

Been there, done that, and got the scratches on the fairings before whilst on the CBR1000RR. A few times even. $$$$ :giddy:

Not when you are on a supermotard. Enter the gravel, slide back on the seat, and dirt ride your way out of it. Been there and done that too.

if u r heading way too fast....towards tyre wall.....just pull down the bike and fall.

as for trying to save urself......stick out both legs....be very firm with handle bar, coz front wheel will change direction on its own due to gravel surface, dont squeeze but have finger gently on brake lever.......

and countersteer.

Don't just break your laptimes, SHATTER them!!

i think it will be advisable to clutch in as well. but correct me if i'm wrong. thinking of the gravels, the level of the grounds very the not smooth. experienced myself at turn 6. when i as really new to track. tried to slow down, but the ground was damn bumpy such dat it made me open up my throttle a few times. till i hit the tyres. felt really really stupid dat time, coz turn 6 gravel area was damn big, and i still manage to go n hit the tyres....hahaha....stupid rite????

That's what I did yesterday...minimal bike damage, I am ok except for a fractured collarbone. Tried to control it but the handlebars was tankslapping like mad even with the damper on... had to ditch my bike when I saw the wall...both me and bike stopped next to it.

I will not be greedy to eat the corners like that again like that in future. :cheeky:

I just brake as much as i can before i hit the gravel, once in relax on the handle, slowly braking until close to a stop and then proceed to turn out onto the track..Both legs out just in case by the way...

I had the unpleasant experience of entering the gravel after turn 2 at around 120+km/h.

Perhaps this is one instance where ABS is a good thing on the track. I immediately straighted the bike up and stood on the footpegs just before entering the gravel. As I was going through the gravel, front and rear ABS pumping away non stop, bike almost in a tankslap, but became more stable as the speed dropped to below 80.

Finally came to the end of the sea of gravel, stopped at the grass to catch my breath, then had some fun spinning up the rear wheel while exiting the gravel trap.

Lesson learnt : Do not day dream on the track!

PG Turn 2 has to be taken as late as possible and then pulling the bike down hard to clip the apex. If done correctly.. you will be pointed to the outside of Turn 3... just nice.

For reference...it is possible to knee down on Turn 2 on a DRZ400SM, full bore, 5th gear.
