Yamaha Announces New 2009 Motorcycle and Scooter Models

2008-06-10 21:01

Yamaha Motor Corporation is pleased to introduce select, new 2009 motorcycle and scooter models that give today’s enthusiasts exactly what they are looking for.

With its recent announcement of the new VMAX, Star motorcycles is also pleased to announce the return of several key 2009 models. They include the V Star 1100 Silverado, Classic and Custom, the V Star Silverado, Classic and Custom and the V Star 250. In addition to new colors for the Silverado and Classic, both of the Custom models feature blacked out engines and new blacked out wheels to further enhance the custom look.

Also returning for 2009 is the ever popular YZF-R6S in two colors as well as the recently re-designed XT 250 and versatile TW 200 dual purpose machines.

With rising gas prices in the news every day, scooters are becoming a very attractive commuting alternative. With two brand new models plus our five existing models Yamaha has all the right choices. First, there’s the new-generation Zuma 125, powered by a 125cc, 4-valve four stroke, fuel injected engine. Yamaha is now advertising mpg for our scooters, and the Zuma 125 achieves fuel economy up to an estimated 88* mpg with a fuel tank that holds 1.5 gallons of gas.

Commuters wanting even more can have it – a lot more. That’s because Yamaha is also introducing the all-new TMAX. Think of it as a Super Sport Scooter with its 499cc fuel-injected twin cylinder engine, a lightweight CF die-cast aluminum frame, 4-piston mono-block caliper dual front disc brakes and a rear disc brake. TMAX also has luxury scooter appointments like plenty of storage, an operator backrest, full instrumentation and achieves fuel economy up to an estimated 47* mpg. The 400cc Majesty, Vino 125, Vino Classic, C3 and the ever popular Zuma 50 all return with great new colors for 2009.

These models represent our early release 2009 models and we will have additional 2009 model news at the end of the summer.

the R6S has been around waaaaay before the 06R6 launched in sg. it wasn't called the R6S in sg though, everyone referred to it as the R6 and the model was more or less the same albeit a few minor changes until 2006 where a major revamp came in. the R6S engine was shared with the FZ-6 after the thundercat engine version was phased out.

for 09, i'm quite disappointed in the fact that they did not change the front forks or make some upgrades. it still looks exactly the same as it did last year :giddy:
