hi everyone,

I am currently riding an x1 and the piaggio mp3 caught my eye,

but, as i travel quite a lot, kick-start is a must for me.

Does the MP3 come with kick-start?

i seem to remember Piaggio bikes only got auto-starts.

Thanks!

cancan bro....regret to say, mp3 does not come with a kick start.

infact most of the big scooters i recalled, do not have a kick start.

btw,did any one got himself a spare key for his MP3?

hehe, pipi bro...what you wan to know about mp3 spare key?

I got it last week after getting my bike.. bought from Piaggio Centre for $147 (if i remember correctly or was it $138) then brought it to a locksmith for 'cutting' -cost $20.

then bring the new key to motorshop where my masterkey was housed for safe keeping... the mechanic then do the programming which is very easy to perform..however, brought back the new key to Piaggio whose mechanic know how to programme to open the seat cover... (turn and hold for 4 sec and off for 8 sec and then turn on for 4 sec and then........)

opening of the seat cover is by remote rite? so the new key needs to be set in order to open the seat. So the new key needs to be two 'programming".. one is to set it to start the engine and the other is to set it to open up the seat cover via the button on the key.

Security feature - the master key is needed to program new key.. someone stole your bikes key and made a duplicate, he cant start the engine ...(this is wat the bikeshop fella says)..

I really like the MP3 design but only has Cl 2B. Was wondering if the MP3 125cc is underpowered considering that the frame is the same.

Anyone riding the 125cc and can post a review or comment on the 125cc vs the 250cc?

Is it worth considering or should I go for my 2A instead?

I would suggest going for the 2A. You can test ride the 125 at Piaggio and try for yourself.

i just got my 125 MP3 two weeks ago... NO POWER.... NOT WORTH for that price... Be patient and wait for your 2A and get a bigger CC.....

For the 125cc, needs about 7000rpms to hit 70~80km/hr... depends on whether you consider that straining...

with 3 wheels does it take longer and harder to brake?

The brakes of the MP3 are superior to any scooter, because there's an extra tyre to grip when you brake. And that tyre has its own brake disc.

when pulling out carpark is it very difficult? i find my phantom very heavy when facing downslope.

can stil u turn well?

It is heavy. It can turn well if you roll the power. If you don't have enough power it won't turn well. Sounds just like a normal bike doesn't it?

can at least maintain at 90 without straining? so that the cars behind don tailgate n highbeam

The 250 can.

Hi contrarian, how do you find your MP3 250 so far?

It handles well and is a great city warrior. It accelerates fast and brakes fast. This bike taught me how to turn the handlebars and to lean into turns.

The parking brake and suspension lock is great for when you need to stop and let go of the handlebars (such as a car park slope at the barrier).

Storage space beats anything I've seen - the only bike that can store all my apparel and junk inside.

Fuel consumption is acceptable, but could be better. I hear that Piaggio is coming up with a hybrid petrol-electric version. The fuel compartment door spring seems to have a problem working properly - it may not spring up so you have to pull it up manually.

I wish the signal indicators on the dashboard came with a left and right side indicator instead of just a combined one.

Thanks for the write up!

If I'm not wrong the Hybrid version will lose quite a bit of storage space to accomodate the batteries required.

Thought pipi mentioned above it was possible to get 30~31km/ltr for the 250cc?

yes the hybrid engine will take up a lot of the storage space, but if it's like the experience with the Honda Civic hybrid engine, that mp3 is rumoured to be able to move around entirely on electric power for a short while. i probably wouldn't mind! i'd imagine that it can accelerate even faster than the current mp3.

pipi uses the highway mostly, whereas i use the downtown city roads and get about 22-23 km/l thanks to the starts and stops needed for Cross Street, Robinson Road and the like. the time i went for NS and used the highways, i got 28 km/l. i only wish i could get 28-30 km/l!
