hmmm just when i had mixed feelings watching Wilairot do so well at Sepang... Qualifying from front 5th on grid aboard an underdog bike and finishing 8th (if i'm not wrong), Wilairot made SE Asians proud. But I was sad that without our own track/ event we will never have a GP rider. Even Malaysia is looking at having another GP rider since Yuzy. Now it looks like things might change for the future...

since singapore experiences no winter...its best that be a circuit which equals to sepang standard. this means season all throughout the year. also, pre season testing could be a venue.

as for the part on members only track, i kinda expected that.

Knnz, not surprise as it turns out to be a member's only track and be expected to pay big money to ride on the track. (Our tiny island boast a high number of ferraris and lamborghinis and they can afford the 10k member fees... knnz what is 10k to them? 100k or 1 million they also can afford) Just look at our casino, sporeans expected to pay in order to get in. Look at F1, cheng hu approved, and best part never come out money, and expecting the organisers to cough out huge percentage of the takings and stuff into the cheng hu's pocket. Our cheng hu not so stupid to let out land without anything stuffed back into their own pockets. And when it comes to stuffing into the cheng hu's pockets, they are looking at big money. Small money...?? they not interested.

we stop halfway to get further...

about this ttopic on only a members track. u guys mean if this track is up, and for u to practice on the track, u have to be a member?? and dat wd mean extra money?

hmmm.....y wd they do dat??? they will get less profits mah by doing dat. coz lesser bikers will go there to play. i thot getting more bikers to come for joy practise is how they earn extra profits? like sepang and pg???

If it becomes a members-only track with high membership fees, the owners / operators are not going to earn enough revenue to cover both capital recovery and O&M. Maybe initially it will be very exclusive, but when the numbers go red on the income statement, they will definitely reconsider.

Remember, the track is a permanent structure in Singapore. It cannot survive by closing itself to a very small market segment.

10K for lifetime membership? Maybe. Annual fees? Forget it. :sian:

10K for track membership. If thats true, that will be a rip off and not many people are willing to pay that kind of money for a track membership. Maybe except those that own lambos and ferraris. But i am sure they wont just leave the track empty there for most of the year and not make any revenue out of it. So i am pretty sure there will be trackdays held there, the question is how much?

Here in Sydney, i pay AUD$175 for a trackday and thats with discount, normal rate is $199, thats a lot of money but still trackdays are always full, with a minimum of 100 people per track day. That is at least $17500 a day. Well making $17500 a day is definitely a lot better than making 10000 each for only a handful of people for the entire year.

Well, if the track is to be used for MotoGP, it will have the safety features required for motorcycle road racing. In that case, it will be suitable for our track days.

Yeah, I figured 10K is an exaggerated example. But I will not be surprised if it cost a few hundred dollars annually, plus SMSA license requirement.
